Yes. Just like anyone else who shows an inability to do their job competently.
when people display an inability to value human life, including that of police officers, they deserve to have their shit kicked in.

But the same goes for the flip side of that.
When police officers display an inability to value human life, including that of the(unresisitng)criminals, we are all going to have our shit kicked in so to speak. I don’t want to see a day when its ok for a police officer to beat criminals AND the not-so-obvious “criminals” for punishment.
The irony of this thread is that posters are always bitching about cops being scum for overstepping their boundaries(even when they are rightfully doing their jobs)…yet they are being praised for it in this thread.
You guys are in fairy tale land…this is not the age of Judge Dredd. There is a surprising negligence of understanding the duties of law enforcement in this thread.

My problem with this whole argument is that you assume every point, and you do so in such a way that makes the cops out to be saints and the guy getting beat to be the devil. For all we know the guy might have been trying to avoid the spike strips while also trying to NOT hit the cop. Perhaps there was a window he thought he could manuever through which would not harm the officer. He didn’t blast the guy all over the pavement so his intentions of running the cop over and killing him are pure speculation. Secondly, the cop COULD be a complete scumbag with no wife and kids. He could abuse his GF he could be all sorts of horrible. So for you to assume he has a wife and kids and then judge the scenario is not logical.
Also what is all this talk of him driving 90 like it’s some big deal, if it’s on a freeway the traffic is most likley moving at 80 MPH plus. Has anyone here never driven thier car over 80 MPH? over 100?
Again I’ll say this isn’t the worst I have seen, nut it was stupid and they should have been punished. Which they were so whatever i’m ok with the outcome.

wtf? and that somehow makes him LESS of a idiot becuase he might of only ‘accidentally’ tried to kill the cop?
i’ll remember that for your defense when you are trying to put your pistol on the ground and ‘accidentally’ flag the officers with the muzzle and wind up shot and dead.
the motherfucker shoudln’t of put himself in a situation that required spike strips in the first place.
and driving 90 IS a fucking big deal when it involves blowing past a STOPPED SCHOOL BUS and multiple fucking red lights and stop signs. how would you like your family to be driving and have this fuck t-bone them at 90 miles an hour. it’s a pretty big deal then isn’t it?
dammit vegita, you know if i saw a dude try to run you over with a truck, i’d flying bicycle kick his ass into a pool of hot magma.

That’s the difference. There are obvious criminals and those no so obvious criminals. I believe police officers generally do a good job at distinguising which is which.

But when its ok for police officers to be the judge and to punish…it won’t be so obvious anymore. Trust me. The more authority…the more abuse of said authority. It’s human nature.
Suspect was not moving and unconcious lying on the ground. If you were worried about him shooting they should have had their weapons drawn when advancing towards him.
The first guy who ran up had his baton out and he starting hitting him on the back and shoulders. Both bad
spots to strike. If you are trying to knock him down you should strike knees or hips. Your targets should be
joints and you should use the baton to enforce compliance not to cause pain as a punishment.
The guy in the BDU’s was throwing punches to his head, while the suspect was face down and not resisting.
No tactical reason for that other then revenge. He was punishing him not trying to arrest or restrain him.
The other guys in my opinion got caught up and joined in the beating.
Somebody should have put a restraint hold or cuffs on him. That should have been the goal.
All that being said I understand the how this got out of control and the emotions involved. Of the 5 the middle three should have gotten an ass chewing. The first cop with the stick should get suspended and the guy in the BDU’s should also be suspended. Depending on their records this might warrant a pass or a greater penalty.

While that would be awsome, I wouldn’t want you to do that if you were a cop. I would hold you to a higher standard to restrain ME from flying bycicle kicking the guy into hot magma. That would make you a good cop and a good person. Like I said, I can understand WHY they did it, it is still wrong legally, and pretty much common snesically (word?).

The conduct of those officers was fucking infantile.
Agreed. I’m not some soft weak liberal pussy who wants to soft peddle criminals. Dealing with some human vermin like this is exactly like dealing with the four legged kind. If I catch a raccoon in the barn, I’ll shoot it. Once. In the head. I don’t beat it, abuse it, torture it or celebrate. I recognize that it’s a pestiferous creature and I deal with it, swiftly and terminally. I don’t go beyond the limits of my humanity and common sense.
That’s what I expect from law enforcement officers. Kill the mother fuckers that need killed, but do it swiftly, humanely and with the professionalism I would expect from someone given so much power over his peers.
Don’t beat someone if they don’t need beat. I’m not convinced that this guy needed beat.
Totally agree. That’s why I love North Korea and Taliban’s Afganistan, no need of a trial over there, a bullet straight in your head![/quote]
My point was not advocacy for lack of due process, although I see how it could be interpreted in that way. My point was that violence should be administered responsibly by thoughtful adults not excessively or pathologically.

common sense? lol!
i don’t know, i’ve always had good interactions with police. and they are the guys i’d call when there’s a situation i can’t handle. so if someone wants to try and kill one of the dudes that’s going to come and save MY ass, well shit, i hope he gets a sweet kick in nads.
