I didn’t take offense at all; I’m rarely offended by anything. I stand by what I said, however. You attempted to denigrating demonthrall by comparing his “style” to someone you loathe. It’s a weak tactic, and isn’t a good look.
I try to stay out of these types of discussions, since everyone has their own set in stone opinions.
But that part of your post stood out to me as directly contradicting the root of your premise. “Privately outside the Free Health Service”, i.e., your friend paid money to access the best doctor available, and said doctor was motivated by monetary compensation. Correct me if I misinterpreted.
Sorry for the understandable confusion, i guess i was talking about the level of health service generally for each country. As the US is essentially a for profit model, there is little in the way of quality free healthcare so little in the way of aggressive price competition. The UK has the National Health Service that is free to citizens, so is accessed by 7 out of 8 people, this means that paid healthcare has hard competition, but is sometimes accessed by people who want to (or can afford to) select their surgeon or date/place of service. My friend elected to use the private system because of business and travel commitments, but the surgeons and specialists he used for his operation also work in the free public system provided by the National Health Service. He did feel he was not given the same level of information and options in the US, just a more pushy service with consultants selling themselves hard but not necessarily with the patients best interest at heart.
I’ve been an avid t-nation reader since 1998. Still can’t find that article TC wrote about doing squats with a band wrapped around the thighs while whenever a commercial break comes on TV. But I digress, I’m a 48-year-old Black man. I had my first colonoscopy last month. Doc found two benign polyps. She got rid of them. Lab confirmed her findings. I’m all good. No horror story here. My butt did not whistle. I did not bleed. I was not sore. I had excessive flatulence for about a day, which they told me would happen. Same thing happened when I drank Weider protein shakes way back when too. Men already don’t go to the doctor until it’s too late. Please don’t feed the beast.
