U.S. Hegemony on the Decline

No, at least the interstate was built(funded) by the federal government.

So because more modern structures weren’t built by slaves they shouldn’t get paid for the work they had done? Not to mention the majority of time slavery was around, the industry of buildings, roads weren’t even around. If it was, then I’d bet slavery would have been used.

Were your ancestors slaves?

But were the slaves paid?

Would that empire even exist if it weren’t for slavery?

You know, like back in the 70’s were only 1 parent worked. They had a home, 2 cars and took a vacation every year. But maybe this was just a dream.
Productivity and wages.

Yes, manpower that was not paid, held against their will and physically abused. The fact that you weren’t thoroughly embarrassed to print that shows what kind of person you are.

Okay so you are now for reparations?

Yes because you don’t understand it at all. The money will probably come from taxes huh? Just like the 125 billion that went to Ukraine.

Says you.

“We” aren’t forced to do anything. The government will pay. It doesn’t come out of your check.

And this is your justification to NOT pay for the work that they did? And it’s not about being “set for life” it’s about paying for work already done. How would you like your ancestors to work for free for 150 years? And not only working for free but having no freedom and being physically abused.

Because why? No home ownership is a big reason.

It’s not about “amassing fortunes”, it’s about paying them for the work that was done. Do you believe in paying people for the work they have done?

But, they did leave something?

That IS the point. What IS NOT the point is because they couldn’t leave behind fortunes then reparations aren’t justified.

Yes because they are using inflation as a veil to hide behind so they can raise prices. So were do all those profits go? To the workers? No, to the shareholders and upper level management. And let’s not forget the B.of D.

When someone else did the work.

Because of racism perpetrated by people like you. You don’t think blacks are capable of competence, let alone success, without lowered standards and expectations.

No, they are there to keep one dependent on politicians. It’s about votes.

Because people like you care more about the criminals than members of those communities who are the victims of crime.

Only a cultureless American with no roots could come up with something so inane. This how we get the absurdity of privilege. My children don’t need to work to get my love and my sense of responsibility to help them become happy, well adjusted successful adults. People like you would call that another manifestation of privilege. The idea that people are successful because of material benefits as a child and not the intangibles of proper parenting betrays an ignorance of reality. Broke immigrants have children who grow up to be doctors, for example, because of the values they passed down, not money.

And you believe that amount would be in the millions? How much is your father leaving you?

Maybe the Jews should send a bill to the Ancient Egyptians.

Tell that to the Ancient Romans.

Whose ancestors weren’t?

They can ask for reimbursement from the ones who made them slaves, not those who bought them after the fact.

That’s kind of the point. They had slaves before they ever sold one to a European.

Isn’t your argument the US wouldn’t be what it is without slavery? Why the double standard with regard to reparations?

I’ll certainly try. Or, he might end up paying for my funeral, like I had to do with my dad.

But that is my prerogative, as it would be my money. But there are no guarantees. I just told a kid at work- “life is not always just a linear rise toward wealth and greatness. There are ups & downs. With some people, just downs.”.

The thing with reparations is that they’re trying to leave themselves everybody else’s money.

This level of dumbassery and willful ignorance cannot be combatted.

Post WW II worldbbuilding pays pretty well, huh?

Then we switched to maintaining.

But don’t let historical facts get in the way of a good story.

Happy easter.

Here’s a funny one.

I have a bunch of work in a whole slew of churches, chapels, synagogue, and mosques all over the world.

Should I get paid every time somebody looks at it?
Cuz I think I was underpaid at the time I did it.

Yes, oh great castoli I don’t understand anything.

Taxes? You mean debt right. Hence our debt keeps increasing, which will have severe effects at some point - some of which we are already seeing.

Again, how much do you make a year again? Oh right.

Around the time the Gold Standard was abandoned?

Imagine that!

Almost like that had massive consequences that took 40+ years to develop…

Ok so what kind of work do you do?

Since when do slaves get payed? That’s why they called them slaves in the first place. Or else they’d be called “workers”.

Of course they should have been payed. Of course they shouldn’t have been enslaved. Of course.
But they were enslaved, and their descendents are better off because of it.

Are you negatively vocal about stopping inheritance?

And because of dimwits like you who don’t believe in systematic racism or it’s negative effects. How many barriers are to be put in place before one can see it?

And there is truth in this statement. Keep people desperate so that they vote for you, while leaving them in the same situation without addressing the real problems.

More like wanting to address the real cause.

While you deny that some children have inherited privilege. So because you can leave your children something of material wealth behind others should be denied this and you use parenting as an excuse not to do this. Good grief.

Why does it have to be millions? My father was integrated in the economic system we have here known as capitalism. So like many others who worked for U.S. Steel he lost his job(1984) and it was a downhill slide ever since. But hey as long as those at the top made more money then I’m sure it was worth it. Capitalism thought so.

Maybe they should.

Anyone would know we are talking about the more modern iterations.

So they can’t ask for compensation from those who benefited from their labor value down the line?

What double standard?

Would it?

Well maybe I was just dreaming it all in my childhood. Happy Easter to you as well.

How do you think I put up with you?

Not exactly sure what you mean by everybody else’s. Family members. Just like an inheritance. Don’t the slaves of a by-gone era deserve the same choice. What would their choice be? We don’t know as that option wasn’t given to them.
