But there is no karma. US citizens are now at risk again from Japanese fuck ups. Building nuclear reactors on or near fault lines. Come on, don’t you feel once more let down by your government’s incompetency in not mitigating these risks? The IAEA. What a fucken joke. All a big gravy train.
chusin and Cortez… are you guys OK??
I’m watching some of the vids, and looking at the pics. It is insane, I wish I could be there physically to help. It almost looks like a movie/end of the world or something. this kind of motivates me to get on to some federal agency search and rescue team. but I dream…
Totally missed this and very late but thanks, yes, and if Chushin has not checked in on this thread he’s fine, too. We are both well south of the mess up north. And it is a mess.
Now that things are becoming clearer, it has become more and more real, and I feel bad for a couple of light-hearted comments I made when this first occurred. I’ve never seen anything like this. The power, the destruction, the sheer, brute, incomprehensible force is one aspect of it. The worst part, though, is the people whose wives, husbands, parents, children, babies, were very literally swept away from them, most never to be seen again. Tonight on TV I was watching one 63 year old man looking for his wife, who’d been at work when the tsunami tore through, and they reached the place where she’d been working, and it was just, rubble. And he kept talking matter of factly, about how he’d better start looking for her car, maybe she was in her car, while it was starkly, utterly clear that, if he did find her, there would be very little of her left.
They also found a 4 month old baby alive today, and both parents are alive. Wow.

Oh, so asshole then. kthxbai.
Hey dude I am just concerned at the current situation and angry that something on a nuclear scale like this in Japan could happen. Hundreds of thousands of people lives are at risk. I have seen the effects of radiation poisoning first hand. It is not pleasant.

I’d like to hear more about the poor bastards fighting the fires/trying to get the runaway reactors under control. Those guys are probably good as dead, and they know it. Reminds me of the fire fighters who went into the world trade center on 911, except these guys are losing their lives in slow motion, with plenty of time to think about it.
Hats off to them.
Amen. These guys absolutely know what is almost certainly going to happen to them. True heroes.

No need to troll though.
People have TVs and the internet. If their area is at risk rest assure they will be informed. No one needs a troll on here saying how Japan fucked up. It’s easy to criticize from the comfort of your home, meanwhile there are people risking their lives to try and stop the leak, have some respect. Honestly you just need to STFU, please.

You need to do your due diligence before jumping on a public board spreading a bunch of alarmist, sensationalist bullshit.
You’ve seen the effects of radiation poisoning first hand? Really? Do tell.

You know, I used to think I could have given anyone on here a run for their money when it comes to being an idiot, but not anymore. You take the cake. Biggest Idiot on T-Nation.

Hey thanks man. Only standing on the shoulders of giants in here.
This earthquake stuff in Japan has got me thinking about “The Big One” that is supposed to happen in California. I was wondering if our resident Geologist SteelyD can give any insight if this increases the odds of it happening sooner?
“…at risk again from Japanese fuck ups. Building nuclear reactors on or near fault lines. Come on…”
You do realize that most of the nuclear plants in the USA are on major fault lines, right? Reactors tend to be built on rivers, and rivers follow faults.
I live in Portland Oregon, and yes, there’s been hysteria and a run on Potassium Iodide but then most people here are already mutants so no harm done…
