Japan, Katrina, Haiti! Natural disasters. We have no control, we are slaves to the earth. However, you can prepair for them. Saw a bit on the news, Japan prepares its people for earthquakes and such. They know what to do. Americans are completely unprepared for most any disaster. Check your house, if you were to loose electricity and water and were unable to go anywhere to get anything, how long could you survive? What is in your fridge? Freezer? cabinet? Can you cook anything without electicity or gas? I know I’m glad I have an extra propane tank for my grill.
Ever since Katrina, I have seen quite a bit on disaster preparedness but how many people are actually heeding the advice? Before anyone replies to this, take a look around your home and ask yourself if you are ready for ANYTHING out of the ordinary.
Pretty prepared, shelves with salt cured meat, pickled and preserved fruits, vegetables, eggs, &c. Peanut butter, powdered food, water, &c. Gas generator and fuel to last a month, and a smoker, as well a charcoal and propane grill. Freezer full of food, closet full of beer, good to go.

Japan is bad ass in so many ways. Their culture, language, technology, food, history, woman, art etc are all awesome and so different from the west.
WTF? Lol, so different makes it better?
Okay, so you’re not riding on Japan’s jock?
I might be. Does that make you insecure?
Just find it humourous when people hail East as the best. It’s exotic, it’s not better. I understand the affinity to it, but ultimately just given you shit because it seems most get pissed off when I throw the self loathing card at someone. :)
I got some vagina from the East, that might explain everything lulz.
For the people who are appalled by the reaction a lot of Americans have to this disaster, (all the Pearl Harbour shit and karma), you would not BELIEVE how terrible Chinese people are. I’m living in China right now and some of the posts by people on forums is just insane.
So many Chinese people are ecstatic that this happened to Japan, simply because of the ongoing spite from the Nanking massacre. The people dying in Japan didn’t massacre those people. Their grandparents may have but come on. It’s sad to see this state of the world where people will revel in the disaster and accompanied misery of others. Get a fuckin’ grip on reality.

Humanity is the cancer of the earth. We are a fucked up race, it’s sad.

I’m in Canada now, but I work a lot in the Miyagi-ken area and in Tohoku in general. These places you’re seeing washed away on TV are places I’ve spent a significant amount of time in. These past few days have been unbearable for me.
I’m in contact with two friends in Sendai - one has power, but no water…the other, vice versa. The supermarkets and convenience stores have been completely emptied as of this morning. My one friend managed to stock up on stuff that Japanese don’t consider proper food…peanut butter, nuts, dried seeds and dried cranberries. The other is running low of food.
A friend of mine in Kessenuma is likely dead. There has been one “reported” Canadian death…my friend will probably be the second.
Japanese culture has its critics, but there has been NO widespread panic, even in the hardest hit areas. Nobody fighting, pushing, or freaking out while waiting for hours in line for food or water. No looting or opportunistic theft. People are helping each other through this. It’s absolutely inspirational to me. I’m sorry to say that my hometown of Toronto would be much, much less composed during a similar disaster.

Good to see your okay, sorry to hear about your friends.
TO would be a zoo, and I don’t mean a nice friendly fuzzy petting zoo.
The second explosion at the nuke plant was something to see…again.
I suppose the oil lobbyists are having a field day with this.
“On 14 March 2011, NHK News reported a Japan Meteorological Agency warning that there was a 70% probability of a new earthquake exceeding magnitude 7.0 occurring within or near the same hypocentral region in the following three days.”
What is funny about the “karma is a bitch” facebook updates is that I guarantee these same guys don’t believe they should be held responsible for slavery because they didn’t actually have slaves. I mean, I agree with that point of view, but how can you say that and then say “Karma is a bitch” as if the Japanese people deserved this earthquake?
Sorry, I know I’m late to the party but this whole thing is interesting/fucked up on so many levels.

Everyone self righteous cunt is a spinster, dude. Every event like this is spun for propaganda, for someone else’s gain. It’s disgusting.
Some people are saying that Japan didn’t do anything when Katrina hit so we shouldn’t be helping them now. Then you have the remember Pearl Harbor crowd.

Not to ‘excuse’ the Chinese, but the dynamic between them and Japan is FAR different than ours. It is all sad though, the way that we hold grudges as countries/races that prevent us from truly coming together in times of need.
