Trying to Influence Your Child's Music Tastes?

Rogue is as good at avoiding answering the questions as he is at avoiding the sun…

Must be the music.

I’m sorry I can’t help it this thread is so ridiculous. It’s got a little bit of everything for everybody, and I can’t wait for rogie’s answer to push’s question.

You just had to go there, RV. You really had to. Such a shame.

By the way, I’m in my twenties and as a black chick, I do love some of my ‘‘ghetto rap’’. But I also dig metal. I get my Deadlifts, Bench and Squats PRs by listening to Metallica, Anthrax, Megadeth, Black Sabbath and Iron Maiden. I’m also into metalcore.

And do you know why? Because my parents listened to all music genres and didn’t shelter me from genres they deemed not appropriate for my cultural background and race. You should do the same with your daughter. Hopefully she won’t grow up as closed minded as you are.
btw, tattoofailure.com is incredible.

DAFUQ is going on in here?

RV please don’t influence any children in any way, shape, or form. Just please. I’d really appreciate it if you weren’t molding any individuals who will be doing things during my lifetime.

Yeah. RV has made his opinions on “influencing” children very clear.

Thread should be renamed “Rogue Vampire’s Greatest Hits Volume II”.

Your daughter deserves to listen to whatever music she likes. She should be given a childhood and enjoy music, concerts and knowing more about the personal lives of any of her music idols just like anyone else her age.

I don’t even know if I should be responding to this thread seriously or not.

And what’s wrong with Adele? Seriously?
You obviously have not read some of other posts here huh? If you did, you would have realized, she listens to whatever she chooses. Whats wrong with adele? Well, for me, its crap, its the kind of music I hate. Wheres the electric guitars? she sings about love and emotion. I hate that. I don’t like fluffy crap. I like heavy metal.
I think because you don’t like a genre of music doesn’t mean you should influence your kids to not listen to the same music. Let her enjoy whatever she wants. I mean you did say “Luckily, I have not allowed this horrid radio station to totally brainwash and fill my daughters’ head with terrible god aweful music.” I HAVE NOT ALLOWED.

Adele is a brand of music that appeals to a wide demographic. Grammys obviously are not just handed out for free.

If this is a debate about no hardcore rock bands in the Top 40 (coughfoofighterscoughlinkinparkcough*RHCP) then let’s go ahead. But if it’s about telling your daughter what her tastes should be then I don’t think that’s a real debate provided she’s not harming anyone or being harmed in the process.

“REAL music” is from your point of view, you’ve got to give her/others a chance to like what they want. All you can do is support that. That means IF she wants to take you to the next Bieber concert, you MUST go!

Why isn’t classical music REAL music?

Anyway I don’t know why I’m debating this, some puzzling reply is sure to follow. You’re entertaining at the least.

Like I said, Again, you are not at all getting what im writing. When i say I will not allow the radio station to “totally” brainwash her, i mean exactly that. Ive said this at least few times now, I only want her to listen to other types of music besides her usual ones. and if you call the foo fighters a real good rock band bahahahha, thats laughable. You are only reading what you seem to want to read. I can’t make my daughter like or hate any kind of music. I just want her to give others a chance. She has, and she likes other kinds of music.
