Should I just take another semester off and go hard on self improvement until the summer?
No one can answer that but you. Two things to consider are:

 1. Will it truly be a waste of money? Can you at least take a pre-req or two? Are your core classes all wrapped up?

 2. The longer you stay out of school, typically the harder it is to go back. If school is for you and not, say a trade, keep that in mind.

Better jobs are never ill timed.
I have my core classes all wrapped up in that associates degree. I’m still mostly directionless on what educational path I want to take.
that’s the toughest part, man. I didn’t know what I wanted to study until I was like 25 (not saying you should wait 4 years … just illustrating that it CAN take a while … but I was in the military at the time so I had a steady job, great mentors and a great environment in which to find my “passion” so to speak so…again, not saying join the military, just sayin’…and in case you’re wondering Economics and Finance).

I wish I had that, my current boss likes to push people in the “business” area. He’s highly successful at what he does and what not. The military is definitely an option at this point though, even though I’m not to sure about where the world is heading. I grew up around the military and have a lot of knowledge on it.

I don’t want to make a big deal out of the video games. Its been awhile since I was 21, so I’m a little out of touch. I guess everyone plays those things now. They look a lot better and more fun now, so I can understand why they are more widely accepted. Another thing that is more accepted now is living at your parent’s house.

I don’t know if you mentioned your living situation yet. Looking back at my own past, where I lived and who I lived with always had a huge effect on my situation.

Bad roommates are like poison. Good roommates are a positive influence. Stressful home life makes everything else difficult.

Maybe one of you more eloquent guys can explain what I’m trying to say?

I think you said it well. The environment in which you find yourself plays a very significant role in your life and impacts you quality of life, your motivation - pretty much any and all aspects of your life. Separating yourself from a toxic environment, however, can and usually is tricky and difficult, if you find yourself in a stressful environment.
