It seems that when the federal govt imposes it’s will on a state, the only real topic to bring up is states rights.
Is there another avenue by which you’d approach this, if you disagreed?

Holy cow that is a leap of trumpian proportions haha. Don’t be one of “those” people.
The status quo is that the federal government sets minimum limits, and it’s up to states if they want to go further than those minimums. In everything. Taxes, laws, regulations. Trump just throws a tantrum when he is told he doesnt have absolute power.
The @NickViar “slavery” comment was that Reagan was panned for using the phrase “states ’ rights” because it was seen as a secret racist dog whistle to southerners who liked Jim Crowe and didn’t like the CRA.
When you invoked “states’ rights” there’s a whole history of political fighting over that term alone.
I don’t think he was comparing fuel efficiency standards to slavery.
I knew it was to facetiously make a point, but didn’t know it was a Reagan reference too! Haha.
It’s rare when a POTUS happily makes a move that should piss off both sides of the aisle… But like the guy said, he could shoot someone in the street and his base would still vote for him.
That’s correct. I’m just well aware that there is only one reason anyone supports states’ rights: slavery.
See the following, in which Tom Woods interviews my ideological twin:
If I disagreed with Trump on this? I don’t see how I could. He’s the President of the United States of America. The greatest and most honorable man in the world. I’d just realize that he knows better than I.
And so it crumbles. Have a good one

If the US were two separate countries, we’d be building a wall a lot further north than we are now.
Going with the Shaggy it wasn’t me move apparently.
God damn! Trump seems to have a leg up on Canada’s Prime Minister Justin Trudeau:
I am surprised myself that this made an American paper.
Trudeau doesn’t seem so far to be getting COMPLETELY lambasted by this, but we are in a federal election campaign. That and the scandal in which two parliamentary caucus members are out because of a corruption scandal due to a Canadian company Trudeau was molly coddling have me wondering how this will play out at the polls.
I always preferred the conspiracy theory that Trudeau is really the son of Fidel Castro. His parents did hang out with Fidel a great deal. Shame that one never got legs. He’s a commie bastard either way lmao.
Wasn’t old Pierre’s wife well known for…ahem…frequent indiscretions?
Can’t say as I never met her. ![]()
The way I hear the story told was that the elder Trudeaus had an open relationship or an “understanding”. Given the year of his conception he could just as easily been the result of a key party lol.
Of course this is all mere speculation that has nothing to do with the high crimes and misdemeanors Justin committed by painting his face. Far worse than anything Fidel ever did.
@Mufasa, a new thread? I figure this is going to keep PWI rocking for a while.
I figure if this is the second instance of the suggestion of impeaching Trump, maybe some elements of popular groundswell will think there has to be something to it if it is coming up again. Thoughts?
Of course he did. Trump has no problem asking people to investigate his opponents. He’ll release a “transcript” that says whatever paints him in a positive light I’m sure. But why would he mention Biden in the first place?
In the history of slimy douchebags he wants to be remembered as the slimiest. What’s crazy is no Republicans will stand up in mass and say this isn’t what we should be about. If it may hurt the other team it doesn’t matter what happens.
I don’t think this goes anywhere.
As the Russia probe proved to me; Trump has both the cautious and criminal mind of a thug and gangster. He knows how to skirt around legality and even constitutionality to always be one step ahead of not only the law…but Congressional Inquiry.
Like a skilled head of a Family; he delegates, and does and says just enough to not only be confident, but down right arrogant in his denials.
It’s all a waste of Taxpayer money.
My stance is to let the man hang himself, because he will eventually.
By current count they don’t have the numbers even in the house. Also, if these allegations came from Adam Schiff, I’m inclined to cite his track record for success.
The fact that Trump is releasing the transcript implies to me that his lawyers have seen it and given it the go ahead. We’ll see though. Quite honestly, I don’t know why they’d pursue this when it’s a year to go and their front runners all beat Trump in head to head polling.
What’s the point?
It’s really hard to justify existing to your constituents when POTUS asks another foreign power for help with another election and you go “eh we’ll probably beat him in the election. Who cares”
They have exposure on this too. I won’t be surprised it this explodes in their face.
