MARK ROSS, a concert promoter and the son of the late Time Warner CEO Steve Ross, is in the process of putting together a large-scale concert called “We the People” to DIRECTLY compete with Donald Trump’s inauguration. The organizers are looking to hold the event in Miami on Inauguration Day. “The talent is banging on our doors to do this,” according to a source familiar with the planning, although not a single act has been revealed as of yet. Ross is in the midst of lining up funding, according to a source.
“Yeah, yeah, same old, same old. China is bad, Muslims are trying to blow stuff up, more lies about Russia . You guys are sooo lame, I don’t have time for these boring stuff about terrorist threats or whatever it’s called. Now let’s get to important matters - how many rooms did the Saudis book in my DC hotel?”
Trump did tons of stuff wrong pre-election - he won despite of, not because of, it. It wasn’t a Trump wave - it’s an anti-Democrat wave that has been rising since 2009. Trump was the beneficiary of it, not the driver of it.
And the mistakes he made pre-election have a different impact once in the Oval Office. A candidate’s words are not a President’s words.
So far? It is only tonal. Certainly I think Obama’s administration was less strident in its defence of Israel at the UN, but how different that is for practical purposes, I am not so sure.
100%. Trump spoke to the correct issues to win the states he needed, but anyone finding a great methodology in his delivery would be insane.
Had he been running against a more likeable candidate, I think it would be the GOP doing the post mortem right now. If the GOP pick the wrong stuff to emulate, they’ll bleed the same way the Dems are doing now.
If Clinton had won…or say Bush on the GOP side…I personally would not be nearly as excited to see the narrative written and the history made by the new President like I am Trump.
Obama and Trump…for better or worse…or what side of the Political Divide you may be on…will go down in History.
While there are a number of things that will make President Obama an historical figure… ironically it’s the Right that will have helped solidify his legacy.
I’m not certain that non Trumps would have won for GOP.
He was so outspoken that he would change things - jobs, immigration etc that he pulled just enough Rust Belt & Upper Midwest votes to win EC.
I’m thinking maybe other candidates couldn’t inspire that crossover.
Oh, I agree with you. The populist wave was the winning ticket, my problems with its precepts aside. The GOP may have squeaked a victory with a moderate, but Michigan flipping Red seems to me a highly unlikely scenario with anyone else.
That said, Trump as a vehicle for that message is not without some very glaring flaws.
