Trump: The First 100 Days

It’s not worth mentioning that historically we had the two most unpopular candidates in modern history running for President?

LOL

You are a real hoot TB…Sorry you can’t control history…or what I say on this board. It must hurt huh?

I’m not even willing to get all that excited about SCOTUS because I’m very unhappy about the process by which Gorsuch got the spot. He’s an eminently qualified and talented jurist, but no judicial appointment is worth destroying the Senate tradition. (Which is not to say Democrats have clean hands on this, but in fairness to them, Republicans played politics with the federal judiciary during Obama’s tenure.)

I applaud him for the extension on the Veterans Choice Act of 2014, the reversal of the Obama transgender rule, and some of the undoing on other of Obama’s executive actions (in part because I agree with the policy in some cases, and in part because it cured some of Obama’s overreach in using executive actions).

“TRUMP: I don’t know yet. People want the border wall. My base definitely wants the border wall, my base really wants it — you’ve been to many of the rallies. OK, the thing they want more than anything is the wall. My base, which is a big base; I think my base is 45 percent. You know, it’s funny. The Democrats, they have a big advantage in the electoral college. Big, big, big advantage. I’ve always said the popular vote would be a lot easier than the electoral college. The electoral college — but it’s a whole different campaign (unintelligible). The electoral college is very difficult for a Republican to win, and I will tell you, the people want to see it. They want to see the wall, they want to see security. Now, it just came out that they’re 73 percent down. … That’s a tremendous achievement. … Look at this, in 100 days, that down to the lowest in 17 years and it’s going lower. Now, people aren’t coming because they know they’re not going to get through, and there isn’t crime. You know the migration up to the border is horrible for women, you know that? (Unintelligible.) Now, much of that’s stopped because they can’t get through.”

Only if you’re trying to play mindless partisan defense on the current president because he has an R beside his name. No one cares about Hillary - she didn’t win.

Now, Trump and his sycophants have to put on big boy pants and stand and deliver on their own, and the report card isn’t based on a “compared to Hillary” scale.

TB:

Bloomberg had an interesting quote on “60 Minutes” last night:

“…To promise that coal jobs are coming back is like promising the workers who used to work at Eastman Kodak that film is gonna come back…Technology lost Coal miners their Jobs…not the Sierra Club…”

These are the types of promises that Trump will find not only difficult…but impossible to keep.

Yes. Contrary to Zeb’s third grade talking points, West Virginia coal miners aren’t at bars on Friday night toasting Gorsuch getting a seat on SCOTUS - “hear, hear, Trump delivered on the one thing most important to us! Cheers!” - they’re waiting for promises to be kept that affect how they put food on their families’ tables.

And these will be promises broken. Trump could never deliver on this and the other economic guarantees he made to the Regular Guy.

At least he’s draining the swamp so that DC represents the average American again!

Make 'Murica Gurt Agin!

I’m not talking about conservatives, I’m talking about Trump voters - and the two groups are not the same, and conservatives are not who carried Trump to victory in the Electoral College.

Good Lord.

I’m not sure why the last few sentences only showed unintelligible once,
snarky snark

Funny thing is (and I know full well this doesn’t represent the population), you are the only person I’ve met so far that voted for Trump as this being the biggest reason.

Granted most of the people I know that voted Trump are mouth breathers, so it probably doesn’t represent the total population.

Question: Now why are you bringing up democrats?

Answer: Because it is pertinent to the question that is asked.

Well, that was the single biggest reason. And all of all the conservatives that I know, and there are many, they voted for Trump for the same reason. Long after Trump’s Presidency ends Justice Gorsuch will be sitting on the bench. I believe he is 49 years old. That means he could serve for the next 40 or so years. In addition to that there might be at least one more Justice leaving before Trump’s term ends. That means the court will have it’s 5th conservative on the court. And the decisions that they make over the next four decades far outweigh who we elected to the Presidency in 2016. It is a huge long-term gain.

On the other hand if Hillary had won (oh wait am I allowed to mention Hillary’s name TB? Pfft…) we would have had a left leaning court for the next four decades. And that is fine if you are a left leaning democrat, but I’m not so that’s not what I wanted. Oh no I’m showing my partisanship Ha ha…

By the way your “mouth breathers” comment made me laugh out loud.

If conservatives voted for Trump (and they did) then they are Trump voters.

We already established that it is the conservatives who voted for Trump that are celebrating the Gorsuch appointment.

Edit: It is worth mentioning that many of the Coal Miners who are also gun owners, which might be a large percentage I don’t know, could very well be celebrating the Gorsuch appointment.

I know they exist on both sides of the fence, but my mother’s side of my family is JUST. SO. FUGGIN. STUPID. My mom’s brother was one of those glorious diamonds in the rough that didn’t realize ACA = Obamacare. He’s a nice enough guy (as long as you’re white) but goddamn is he stupid.

As for the SCOTUS reason being #1, I haven’t seen that anywhere as being a major topic of importance. Guessing it’s a difference in age brackets.

This part is pretty accurate. The areas of the country that coal mining is popular in (from my experience) are also very heavy in the fear that Dems will be quite literally showing up to your house to confiscate your firearms.

Yes, because, however, it is pertinent to my point because the blowing up of Senate tradition started with Democrats and culminated with Republicans, so it is important and fair to allocate blame fairly if I am complaining it.

You, on the other hand, blindly and mindlessly try to change the subject on every criticism of a Republican into a criticism of a Democrat even when - no, especially when - it’s not at all pertinent to the criticicism of the Republican.

For example, I’ve called Trump a liar. Whether he is or isn’t has nothing to do with whether some Democrat somewhere is also a liar - that’s completely irrelevant - but like a dimwitted, programmed hackbot, instead of addressing whether Trump is or isn’t a liar (the actual topic raised), you unfailingly always try to play defense for The Team and try to change the topic.

Hell, a Republican could wander out of a hotel room covered in blood having just murdered a bunch of people, most everyone’s reaction would be “my God, what a monster!” and yours would be “yeah, but this one time there was a Democrat state legislator from Wisconsin who murdered twice as many people!!!”

It’s predictable, stupid, and silly, and yes, we’ll continue to call you out on it when we see it, and no, your pouting aside, it isn’t an infringement on your “free speech” when we do.

They are a subset of a Trump voters, Einstein, which you know, since you intentionally avoided addressing my point that the Rust Belt voters who broke late to give Trump the victory are not doctrinaire conservatives - they are old Reagan Democrats more interested in trade and supper-table topics.

You have it all wrong once again. I mention the other side when it is necessary to shed clarity on the topic (among other reasons)…just as you did in your example above. Let’s take the Carson episode for example. Is it not important to remind people that although Carson was wrong he was pounded unmercifully by the left wing media? And as a comparison Obama was given a free pass for bending the truth so very many times?

You are the only one who thinks this is somehow wrong. In your world no one is allowed to mention any sort of comparison when a republican is being bashed unfairly. Of course not…

Do you have a mouse in your pocket?
