Trump: The First 100 Days

I don’t think the Middle East has any strategic value for the US; except, that I think it’s in our best interest long-term to limit or at least contain the Russians and the Chinese from expanding their geopolitical influence on the world through the Middle East and subsequently Europe via oil production and dollars.

Right, and that’s one reason I was so upset at the previous admin although of course that is history now.

There’s so much going on in this interview…

“Most beautiful piece of chocolate cake you’ve ever seen”

“The ships are locked and loaded. What do you do?”

“59 missiles…heading to Iraq”

On a side note, Trump seems the kind of person who’d launch a nuclear strike on some country just to impress his dinner guest.

The above has a precedent - Alexander the Great burned Persia’s capital Persepolis to the ground because he was dared to do it by a “drunken whore” during dinner.

every time I open this thread, this video continues to play automatically.

Can you modify the link so it doesn’t embed?

Changed to a WaPo article because I have no idea how to make it not autoplay. Sorry about that.

I also liked how he remarked the missiles were “unmanned”.

Don’t know if anybody is looking to be budget director of the Trump administration, but now is your chance.

This is an interesting take on Trump -China -north Korea

You can tell me other presidents have had better starts. But I doubt that is the case. Keep in mind that Trump started in the deepest hole of any president, ever. He’s already halfway out of the hole and establishing himself as a strong leader on international issues.

I do not, in any way, understand what he is saying here.

Probably his favorability - both he and Hillary had historically bad ratings right?

That doesn’t make sense since his approval ratings have mostly gone down since inauguration (and his disapproval has skyrocketed).

What are the main things that poll takers ( or readers here) disapprove of, other than immigration fiasco?

I don’t think he goes by polls, all his perception.

His Trump related fame has been about calling a landslide for Trump from the outset in the face of polling showing the opposite

This probably won’t answer the question to your satisfaction, but I think he is a man of little character who is dishonest, disingenuous and interested only in serving himself and his family rather than his country. And I believe what he’s done since he’s been in office reflect those traits. (Not to put too fine a point on it or anything)

His oh too common “I’m not a politician” hypocrisy.
His branding of anyone that disagrees with him FakeNews.
Alternative Facts
The Wall
TrumpCare
His stopping of the MIP decrease in HUD
The vast majority of his cabinet choices
The elephant in the room that is Putin wanted him as President, and I don’t trust Putin (not to be confused with colluded with Putin).
Disrespecting and downplaying the US Intel Community

Just the stuff that comes to mind. So far, apart from the initial Syria events and his deportation of illegals, there hasn’t been much that I was really in favor of that he’s actually accomplished.

Is there a large group of people out there who completely disregard these polls and actually believe the majority of Americans believe he is doing a good job (serious question)? I don’t doubt it since it seems like many have completely tossed polls out the window since the election, even though the national polls were well within the margin-of-error.

Would add to the above:
–Decimation of the instruments of soft power (State Dept; foreign aid; etc)
–Inexplicable, knee-jerk anti-environmentalism (eg, undoing the MPG requirements)
–Misleading the populace about the prospect of a manufacturing renaissance

We might as well tack quotes like this onto the list (after his meeting with Xi):

“After listening for 10 minutes, I realized it’s not so easy,” the president told the Journal. “I felt pretty strongly that they had a tremendous power [over] North Korea. … But it’s not what you would think.”
