He’s definitely an odd bird. But as I have said all along I will take that odd bird who will lower my taxes and preserve my gun rights (and a number of other things) over the detestable Hillary Clinton. And to add one more thing, we were not given much of a choice were we?
Good High School teachers can make all the difference. It sounds like we had similar experiences regarding English. Mine was during my Sophomore year. She literally changed my entire view on the subject. She was a lover of the arts and also practiced ballet.
No we weren’t, we were given a choice I couldn’t stomach. But again, his behavior is not justifiable in my mind. If he wants to misdirect media while he goes for policies, he could find any manner of things to do that with that were not the wiretapping claim or conspiracy theories. This behavior shouldn’t come from EITHER party in the White House. The defense that Obama did it (he didnt do anything close to this no matter how many flaws he had) or that it is all a game is not justifiable either–there are games that hurt us no matter what side wins, and I think this is one.
It’s clear that you are confused about what basic research is and how it differentiates from “research and development” that companies do. Both are essential.
You seem to have strong opinions on topics that, based on your comments, you know very little about. I also am ignorant on many things, although I try not to consistently demonstrate it.
Well I agree. It is as despicable as the left saying Trump is in bed with the Russians. As I have said it’s a game on both sides. The older I get the less I like politics. It’s fun to watch but when you think of the ramifications of this nonsense it becomes less appealing.
Obama with the IRS targetting (I know it’s not proven, but I thought you’d like it anyway)
Trump with the libel (I know you won’t like this one, but if Obama accused “Insert Zeb’s fav repub here” of a crime with no proof and he was ultimately wrong, you’d want his head, and rightly so)
Well, that is interesting. Firstly, if we are going to go after Obama for breaking the law the IRS is only the beginning. There was gun running in Mexico titled “Fast & Furious” then there was NSA spying on US citizens and then…okay I will stop as I have listed them in prior posts.
As for Trump he didn’t break the law by claiming Obama wire tapped him. And it’s very difficult to slander or libel a politician or for that matter any celebrity but especially a politician.
So far no matter how many accusations his many opponents throw at him all Trump is guilty of is acting like a buffoon and at times lowering the office of the Presidency. Not as badly as Bill Clinton did receiving oral sex in the oval office, but still bad enough. I have said this on many occasions but it is worth repeating. Trump was my dead last choice out of the 17 republicans running for office. I was for Rubio and then Cruz. Anyway, we have Trump as President let’s see what he can do. If he turns the economy around, crushes Isis and secures our borders I suspect that no one will care that he tweets like a 7th grade girl. And if he fails as President like many on the left are hoping the tweeting and the accusation that Obama wire tapped him will be the least of his worries.
My thoughts are that politicians and rich people should be held accountable to the laws of the country they reside in (I know it’s a pipe dream).
I have a very hard time wrapping my head around a politician intentionally lying (which is illegal imo per the oath they take at swearing in, in the same way that lying under oath is perjury) and getting a pass.
I know I live in an idealistic world, but it’d be swell if people held their friends to the same standards they hold their enemies to.

How did this basic research occur prior to government funding? Obviously it must’ve been occurring if discoveries continued to occur correct?

Of course I do and let me explain why.
Government money you receive is not actually funded by taxation as you may have been lead to believe. It’s actually funded by debt (think the trillions of dollars of national debt the US owes). Tax money is only used to pay off interest on this debt so more money can be continually be borrowed. This money will eventually have to be paid off by future unborn Americans.
So I ask again, is government funding for science so vital that you’re willing to make debt slaves (or at least exacerbate the situation) of your future descendants?
Is the amount of money that goes to scientific funding so high that it’s in the top 100 of our “to do list” as far as removing things that cause debt to future generations?
I’m genuinely asking, as I’m not well read on how much we spend on scientific research.
Follow up question: Do you feel that way about literally all govt spending (as it’s all debt)? In the sense you believe we should stop funding the military and entitlements until such a time we’re able to pay for it without debt in the same way you feel about scientific research?
