Trump: The First 100 Days

Reread what I wrote.

How did he reduce it? What actions did he take?

“Fake News” Loving People REALLY want to know!

Reread what I wrote.

You can go and research that but the numbers are there.

One guess off the top of my head (one possible of several)? Scared illegals from collecting welfare

Ok I am all for reducing the debt, likely more draconian than 99% out there.
But this is like claiming to have lost 1/2 lb after 1 day of dieting.

Wait he also Instituted a hiring freeze

But to give him credit for it, don’t you have to point to something he’s done to make it happen?[quote=“therajraj, post:4823, topic:223365”]

That’s a really stupid guess.

He didn’t do anything. Global interest rates went down a little, especially for sovereign (country) treasury bonds. For example, they’re so low that Germany was able to issue five year treasury bonds with negative yields (where you lose money by holding the bond).

That’s why “miraculously” national debt went down for pretty much every country in the world. The reduction is minimal in relative terms, but taking into account the size of US national debt, even small variations translate into billions.

For example Ukraine, a country waging a full conventional war against Russia is also “miraculously” reducing its national debt at the start of 2017, and that definitely isn’t down to Trump:

Anyway, pretty much every populist in power throughout the world is shouting the same thing right now “I reduced the national debt by X while my predecessors increased it by Y!”, even if it’s measly millions.

Oh, and the debt reduction - lowering of global interest rates is thanks to… Obama’s policies that stabilized the US economy.

Yes! If anything, he has reduced the deficit by the European bond markets shitting themselves. People hedging against instability has aided his “debt reduction.” None of this is indicative of an increase of strength in the global or US economy.

Whitehouse will seek major cuts in foreign aid.

Now I await for loppar to interpret this as anti semitic as Israel received $38 billion in aid in 2016 alone

Great way to create jobs: start throwing business owners and workers, in the fastest growing industry in the country, who are abiding by state laws, in federal prison for trafficking.

Think of all the policing jobs it’ll create!

And private prison guards.

And parole officers!

And the US could certainly use more lawyers.

Luckily there’s basically no fear of this happening. Federal courts have already shown they’ll stand up to Trump, and without a SCOTUS on his side, the ruling will stand. Even with my admittedly lackluster knowledge of the SC justices, none of them stand for this.

That was my thinking too, but there is precedence (or presidence, if you will) here under Gonzales v. Raich. I don’t doubt for one second that states with legal cannabis will fight this tooth-and-nail and the Trump admin will probably realize eventually that it’s going to backfire. My concern is the amount of damage it can do in the meantime.

Ultimately even with case law to support it, no Gov of any state will tell state/city law enforcement to directly contradict a law that was passed by the people. That means even if Trump finds a way to crack down, he’ll have to use federal agents to do so.

Imo I think this is 100% beneficial as the anti Trump band wagoners will jump on board the “legalize” train. In the words of our dear Zeb, I don’t care if their reasons to support me are shit as long as I get what I want.
