Trump: The First 100 Days

This begs the question then, who did what to whom? Did Trump degrade the quality of journalism?

Or did some major outlets decide to lower their standard to just above a piece of decaying dung, and start grabbing up every piece in the blogosphere and slapping their name on it?

I stopped using my microsoft browser because the news feed on it was literally so clotted with shit from every half baked idiot with a keyboard that it was completely useless. And who was claiming rights to those pieces of garbage? You got it- CNN, NYT, etc.

I am sure you are referring largely to the Russia scandal. It seems the fact that several active investigations are underway by the IC and the Senate continues to slip your mind. When has the intelligence community launched and sustained, for months, investigations based on “fake” news? And it’s reported that Priebus contacted the FBI to try to convince them to tamp down the Russia stories. I imagine that’s fake too.

Man you really love bringing up Obama’s golfing.

Edit: I pulled this off of FB in 12 seconds, I’m aware it’s obviously biased apart from the number of times he golfed

I think you’re getting into the shift in journalism especially the economics of the industry. I’m not condoning the BS they do publish, but print is basically dead. People don’t want to wait until Sunday to find out what’s going on. They want to know instantly. That’s a cultural issue as much as it’s a journalism issue.

What I find even more interesting and relevant is that no one seems to care about how much freakin money he’s spending flying back and forth between D.C. and Florida. I remember lots and lots of talk around here about all the expensive vacations Obama used to take…

During his eight years in office, Mr. Obama racked up about $97 million in travel costs. Mr. Trump is on pace to eclipse that by the end of his first year.

And, of course, this doesn’t take into consideration the costs to protect Melania in Trump Tower.

If you read Foreign Affairs there’s a decent piece in there by Tom Nichols that touches on this … the piece is called How America Lost Faith in Expertise

It’s a pretty well written article…I’d post a link but apparently you’d hit a paywall so it’s pointless…

I agree. But does that mean that these news agencies should continue to do it?

It seems like they think they should, but I see it as doing something at their own expense, then crying about the meanie that doesn’t respect them.

He’s holding some feet to the fire. They (written media) can’t continue to fling poop like monkeys and expect to be taken seriously.

I will see if I can get into it.

No, but consumer demand sorta forces their hand, doesn’t it? They need those hits on their website to get those advertising dollars.

I mean, a lot of folks sling pooo and that doesn’t seem to bother him. Sean Hannity is just awful for example, but they’re buddies so that poo is fine I guess (in Trump’s eyes, not yours).

It’s because the people reporting it are labelled “fake news.”

What a strange coincidence.

I don’t like it from either direction. Maybe its an age gap difference. At 44, I grew up reading the news paper. That was real news. As Zeb has said, it leaned a little left in coverage, but you could hang your hat on it as a fact. Now that has become a sure fire way to look like a fool (see Raj Raj, et al).

Staffers impounding Russian flags emblazoned with “Trump” at the CPAC. The GOP is slowly becoming the Party of Putin…

I am aware of that nonsense. I am also aware that I called it as all political and nothing will come of it. And I also remember saying I’d remind you that I was correct when nothing does come of it.

Edit: Sometimes when you really hate on someone you want your fondest wishes to come true. So, I know where you’re coming from.

Ha ha …you wish

Trump must be behind this!

Actually I remember such a question being asked of Obama regarding his golfing at one of his press conferences. Granted I did not quote verbatim.

As for Obama’s vacations he took less than GW Bush. One more point, many complained about his executive orders but he issued less than most Presidents. As a point of fact, Harry Truman issue the most executive orders.

I have only called Obama out on his many horrible decisions.

Hi usmccds423,

Unfortunately, I’m neither a PhD nor a researcher. I’m involved in the clinical operations of drug trials, with neurology being a therapeutic area I’ve worked extensively in, but I can’t speak to things like that.

I think Melania is worth protecting. Michelle Obama flew all over the world while first lady. She was not the most travelled first lady. But she was expensive having more assistants and staff members than any before her.

I hear security is pretty good at the White House. You know, where her husband lives…sometimes.
