So when it comes to Sweden, we’re supposed to trust the “actual statistics” instead of the feels, but when Trump says “the murder rate is the highest that it’s been in 47 years” (although it was higher literally every single year from 1965-2010, and in fact was twice as high in the 1980’s as it is today) we fall back on “Well, you can’t trust statistics, people don’t feel safe.”
I know that you have trouble with basic reading comprehension, so let’s give you some help:
“Rising at its fastest pace” /=/ “the highest it’s been”
The murder rate remains lower today than it was through the entire 1970’s, 1980’s, 1990’s, and 200’s. It is only “rising at a fast pace” because it was already fairly low. I doubt that “regression to the mean” is a concept that you can understand, but from the very article which you frantically Googled one minute ago, let me read you a passage:
“Despite the recent uptick, the murder rate in our 50 cities was lower in 2016 than it was in 2007, and for the 26 years before that.”

You are just grasping at straws rather than admit the amount of sexual offences has risen by 50% in a short time.
Don’t worry - it’s comforting for the one getting raped that she or he is in a small group. But yes I am very short sighted.

Unfortunately, Sweden does have a migrant (not refugee) crime problem. Mostly coming from ridiculously lax asylum laws that enabled Afghan men in their 20ies and 30ies to claim they’re “unaccompanied minors”.
I’m not sure if it translates directly to the “the Muslims raping our white women”, but the crime problem is obvious, although many left-leaning Sweden will flat out deny it, and then proceed to avoid certain neighborhoods at all times.
While it’s far removed from hysterical Breitbart articles mentioning Sweden, there are problems:
Sweden did an admirable job of accepting and integrating Bosnian-Muslim refugees in 1990ies (even one woman rising to a ministerial position) but then kind of dropped the ball - I suppose hubris played a part - they started believing they call solve all the world ills if just everybody came to Sweden.
But Sweden is not the point.
The point is tha the primary source of information for the POTUS and his stream-of-consciousness rants is a network show and Trump is either a) unwilling or b) unable to discern that the news segment in question was referring to past and not current events.
And that’s the troubling part. not rape statistics in Sweden.
He’s either talking about Malcolm Gladwell’s theory that freely available contraceptives reduced the murder rate in NYC - two decades later or some racist drivel about white medicine saving non-whites who would otherwise die.
Well said… “Im hearing” doesnt count as a fact…maybe a alternative fact… Before he starts doing speeches he should do research besides watching Fox… Because he sounds like a moron… and when he sounds like a moron we look like a country of fools… BTW the Swedish prime minister agrees… His style wont do well when he has to give speeches over seas…
As technology develops specifically emergency medical services, less people will succumb to their injuries from a violent attack. People who would otherwise would have died 20 years ago from their attack, would now survive.
While the Military (where a lot of Emergency techniques and Interventions are developed and perfected) have all kinds of statistics on the effect of Battlefield intervention on survival…those stats just don’t translate into the Civilian world.
Let’s take Chicago. These guys (mostly men) are gunned down in alleys and sidewalks with neither immediate care available (i.e like a Marine Corpsman or the immediate interventions all Marines learn, as an example); nor do they have immediate access via wireless to a Medivac and a mobile Shock-Trauma Unit).
My point is that while Modern Medicine is available…the nearest Emergency Department may as well be in Mosul in it’s ability to care for a guy lying shot in a dark alley.
Oh, ok. I thought that you were implying that rogue bands of mexican immigrants were breaking into operating rooms and committing malicious acts of surgical intervention.
