Trump: The First 100 Days

That’s fair and fine criticism, but it whistles past the fact that the cost of living on essential goods and services have galloped ahead of income.

People could ditch the smartphones and the flat screens and it wouldn’t help much against skyrocketing real estate prices, education costs, health insurance costs, and pharmaceuticals, to name a few.

A lot of this is the fault of government, and not because rich people got rich(er).

Look I have no problem talking about income inequality. A lot of people won’t like my views on it, but often times solutions come in the form of confiscation and redistribution. That’s a no-go.

BLS says a number of things are cheaper now than they were 100 years ago:

A question for all of you that support Mattis for SOD. Did he leave men to die on the battlefield of Afghanistan in 2001?

Without having the slightest clue what you’re even talking about I’m going to go with an emphatic no on that one…

I’ve seen several news stories regarding this since I started looking into Mattis. Here is one of them.

Ya, I did just read this one. I find it pretty hard to believe he just left these Green Berets. I’m sure we’ll get more details soon enough.

I think a real problem with conservatives is they think we are living in a system that isn’t in horrible decay. In an actual free market (we don’t live in one) with a small government Trump bullying carrier to stay would be disadvantageous.

But in the mess that we currently live in I disagree. He made the correct decision relative to the current situation

Think past your conservative ideals of low taxes and endless wars

Ok a short reply here gents.

I admire @anon50325502 and @countingbeans for both their intelligence and ambition. Desire to rise above whatever circumstance they may have started in financially.

I don’t hold it against the tens of millions of willing Americans who are systemically shortchanged by a privileged class that has the government under its financial spell. These are people who can and will work, but perhaps are not college material. In fact, I want them to get jobs back here, so they have an opportunity.

Don’t be fooled - the government is destroying the ability of the majority of its citizens to earn a living, in any manner other than through poorly paying servitude jobs. We manufacture half the goods in the world and become the dominant world power - like Britain before us and China after and it is clear to me its importance.
This destruction is coming at the behest, and with the financial backing of the ultra wealthy. Also do not be fooled that accountancy and financial analysis are immune to being outsourced, automated, or done offsite.

It is true the new economy is thrust upon us. But we needn’t allow a few set bastards at the top of the pyramid pin our arms, just as we are needing them to fight for our well being.

Just give us the tools and we will finish the job.

It would definitely need these. I’m way out of my realm on this stuff, but on some SF operations, isn’t calling for back up or rescue simply not part of the equation?

Maybe someone who knows better could chime in?

As someone who works in this field I totally agree.

To upcoming students I’d advise them to learn to code

Nicely worded, but you didn’t provide a solution. If you don’t believe in forcibly redistributing wealth than how do you plan on changing the status quo?

It could happen, but it doesn’t concern me.

The problem most American’s have is that they can’t or don’t want to adapt. So, instead, we fight for the status quo even if it’s not in our best interest. I believe in creative destruction. Let capitalism do what capitalism does.

Another problem many American’s have is that we’ve become a nation of people that looks excuses and scapegoats for our short comings.

Short anecdote here: The company I work for will pay up to $5k a year for undergraduate and graduate school. They will also pay up yo $20k of your student loan ($200/ I think). Yet, almost no one takes advantage of it. I’ve spoken to at least 3 employees that “don’t have the time for night classes”. It blows my mind. I’ve literally been given $20k over the last 4 years to learn new things and build my resume. Yes, it requires a person to sacrifice their ability to binge watch Netflix, but that’s a choice.

I’ve got another friend that complains about how little he makes, but he could use the post 9/11 GI Bill to earn a degree and then some. Does he do it? No, because it’s easier to complain then to sacrifice and get it done.

It’s maddening and I’m supposed to pay higher taxes because I’ve worked harder than most to improve.

Fuck that

These guys were escorting the future president of Afghanistan and claimed to be the victim of friendly fire. I can’t imagine a reason why he would refuse. They were rescued several hours later by Air Force Special Ops but it wasn’t in time to save the men badly injured.

I’m good with that if indeed it is Capitalism and not the workings of a corrupt government.

1 allowing US companies to slug it out toe to toe with sovereign country backed companies
2 opening our doors to any and all but not doing trade agreements with quid pro quo
3 enforcing safety and environmental regulations here but letting poisonous imports in
4 tax system so out of step that there is company inversion
5 zero protection against patent infringement and outright R&D theft by sovereigns
6 destruction of region based lending
7 tax abatement rivalries not checked by government

I’m pretty sure there are many I have not thought about in here. You think these are the free enterprise one envisions of 10 men standing under the tree trading on wall street in 1600s?

I don’t think we will ever eliminate corruption. That’s just the nature of man and politics. It’s up to us to make the best of our God given talents. Within reason, I will always prosper because my life doesn’t depend on the man that’s elected.

8.Importing a peasant class of people incapable of doing anything other than very basic labor jobs. Not only that but there is now a stigma for natives to work in certain industries because these jobs are now considered “beneath” them.

You hit it out of the park on this one. I have been punished by Obama for 8 years because I have found ways to succeed in a lousy economy. Punish those who produce and you will get less people producing. Reward those who refuse to produce and they will continue to sit on their asses.

Those who do not take advantage of your companies very generous tuition plan should get no sympathy from anyone…especially the government.

You are actually being generous. Someone correct me if I’m wrong but I read recently that almost 40% of all Federal inmates are illegal aliens. Out of the remaining number I would like to know how many are collecting food stamps, welfare and one of the other many programs that the federal government has for these illegals.

Trump was spot on when he said that Mexico was not sending it’s best and brightest.

Where I live and do business the economy is booming so there is no excuse for someone not succeeding.
