Trump: The First 100 Days

Transparency International said in its annual Corruption Perceptions Index for 2016 that in countries with populist or autocratic leaders, “instead of tackling crony capitalism, those leaders usually install even worse forms of corrupt systems.”

Gee, like this…

…and this…

My father told me a long, long time ago. If you want to avoid criticism do nothing, say nothing, be nothing!

I guess these executive orders are “OK” because they are given with the good graces of (Edit Spelling): Congress?

Is he even consulting Congress…or just writing them because CEO? Nonetheless, should be an interesting 100 days. I’ve already seen someone I know compare it to Orwell’s 1984. Hyperbole?

I think Ike had only one pick to his cabinet that was not a millionaire. And Dwight D. Eisenhower was considered one of the better Presidents. President Reagan had a boat load of successful people in his cabinet as well. Folks who have succeeded have done so because they are usually brighter and more ambitious than the typical bureaucrat. They like to get things done–win. I like Trump’s cabinet picks.

The way Trump is moving he may accomplish more in his first 100 days than most Presidents achieve in their first year.

Yeah that’s what executive orders do…no?
I was waiting for you to come in and defend your boy. Took you long enough!

I will repeat this question to you, because I am curios for your take:

“I’ve lived through many transitions, and I don’t think this is a story,” said a senior E.P.A. career official who spoke on background because he was not authorized to speak to the news media on the matter. “I don’t think it’s fair to call it a gag order. This is standard practice. And the move with regard to the grants, when a new administration comes in, you run things by them before you update the website.”

^^^From NYT.

You Trump haters are getting hysterical as the Mother Jones of the world who are echoing these stories

I will add Dems are obfuscating full bore the confirmation hearings to put Admin in place. So where’s your outrage? Not attacking you maliciously AG.

Yeah I heard that this was standard practice on NPR this morning. Maybe they’re trying to be more fair now that their funding is getting cut :joy:

Man, who can not hate ‘politics’?? lol

Please correct me if I am wrong my friend. But, I am not aware that Trump is doing anything differently than Bush, Bush HW, or Reagan did. It’s called acting with discipline and speaking with one voice.

Hey where’s all my likes for setting the record straight - according the perpetually truth twisting NYT.

This board is hurtful.
:pensive:

Apparently that is not so…

I’ll let you do the comparison of how many nominees have been confirmed compared to Obama in the same time frame.
And I did read that VV article, however I doubt even the liberals on this board would deny its extreme left position on the Lib/Con continuum.

That’s what was striking about the article. They are upset with Schumer because he is not obfuscating…I’ll have to look at the time comparisons…haven’t looked into that.

A lot of people angry about this are angry at the wrong person. Sure you can fault Trump but these are executive agencies. If he has power over these agencies, why wouldn’t he or any president utilize it to further their political agenda? Obama did it and Trump is doing it. The real problem is the executive harnessing too much power in the first place. I know I’ve stated this several times before, Congress has punted it’s power to the Executive pretty steadily for the past half century. Why write legislation when you can just create another federal agency and grant them complete power and oversight?

We can complain about the guy drinking from the hose or we can turn off the spigot.

Seriously, though, this is a great point.

NYT article says some of these directives not coming from Trump, but were from Obama appointees.

edit Agreed with passing over of power. I’ve said the same here many times.

They are only OK when you agree with the political party of the president, the details of the order itself is irrelevant, if Obama does it then its abuse of power around here.

That’s fair. I have friends who work for the FDA and CDC that feel differently, but that’s why you should get information from multiple sources…

The Failing New York Times, everyone’s favorite liberal rag.

I apologize for not giving you sufficient likes. I hope that you are once again comfortable. This is a safe space.
