I just read the latest nonsense from Vox, a very reliable source of nonsense. They predictably misunderstand Tolkien in the same way they tend to misunderstand reality. In their reckoning, there has never been a massive invasion of illegal migrants funded by our own tax dollars with an open border and Joe Biden was compos mentis.
Aragorn and the rangers of the north were literally the border patrol for The Shire and Bree. Saruman was able to waltz his thugs into The Shire because the Dunedain had all gone south to fight in the war.

The X algorithm seems to feed me all things Tolkien now, along with all things Sydney Sweeny’s tits for some reason. Vox hasn’t shown up in a long time, but The Almighty Algorithm knew I’d want to read that Vox article, and it was right.
If you’re still struggling to understand how Tolkien could reject both National Socialism and the modern woke version of race-based social justice, I recommend checking out James Lindsay, who does a pretty good job of explaining the ideological common denominators of actual National Socialist ideas and the “woke right” fringe of the Republican voters.
As a long-time independent, the biggest difference is that the woke right isn’t driving public or foreign policy in this administration, or the Republican Party more broadly. The woke left is firmly in the driver’s seat of the Democratic Party, and has been for a long time.
Tolkien’s legacy will survive the leftist effort to somehow co-opt its massive popularity into a vehicle for race-based social justice.

I’m not extrapolating Lewiston, I’m explaining it. I understand that leftists would prefer to discuss Trump in abstract terms, but that isn’t how reality works. Government policy has very real impacts upon our lives, and clear terms are needed to describe it.
Tolkien was a remarkably clear writer, which is why twisting his clarity into a mess of moral relativism and modern woke social justice politics has been such a priority for the left.
You left out a few other corporations with Tolkien references, but those are all quite new, while Tolkien’s words were written long ago.
