Svetlana Alexievich’s The Unwomanly Face of War is an interesting (and very, very grim) book. She basically collected war stories of Red Army women. Rough stuff.
You’re the only one who said anything about utopias. I’ve told you otherwise no less than 3 times, but maybe your reading comprehension isn’t keeping up.
This shit is gonna come crashing down no matter what. When it does, your kind will want my kind to be able to put it back together.
Your ideologies cannot exist without being built upon mine.
Utopia does not exist. But we can get close to it be embracing gender roles in the home, in society, and in governance.
If women are as strong and competent as you say they are, then they ought to be drafted, right? Subject to the same laws as men, even if they will face far worse consequences if captured? It’s okay, they can deal with it because they’re strong, right?
Maybe you don’t want that. Neither do I.
Women are great at many things men aren’t. And men are great at the other stuff. Like building societies, structures, freedoms, etc.
Why we would try to deviate from that and push for equality instead of complimentary is beyond me.
The vibe is strong, it might be that I over-interpreted you. It happens easily in discussions like this.
My kind? What do you exactly know about me?
I think when it comes down, it will only get worse.
True.
Disagree on here, but fine.
I don’t have necessarily a problem here. We have lot of female soldiers. Men will often be raped too as POWs. War sucks.
And not that the women are necessarily safe from rapes as civilians if war happens.
True. But it’s very nuanced. Saying simplistic things like men are warriors and women caretakers has very little proof to support it. It’s not so simple.
True equality is an utopia for sure. Men and women are not the same, but it’s not very black and white to me. And there’s always individual differences. Some will always break the roles, more or less.
I do see that women and men are different, just by biological standards. But we can’t make very strict general rules based on those, individual and cultural variation are too wide.
Would you care to explain why men are bigger and stronger than women?
How would we have this evolutionary divergence if not?
Why would women be attracted to taller men if size did not previously mean protection?
Hard disagree.
Dystopia or utopia, but not a thing that can be even achieved.
Evolutionary for sure. But we came long way from apes. If we want to live like beasts, we need to get rid of our whole civilization first.
There’s studies suggesting that in hunter-gatherer groups women also hunted and fought. So even when smaller and weaker, they weren’t completely at mens mercy.
And like I’ve said before: several women have proved themselves to be great warriors and leaders. Can all women be leaders and warriors? No.
But neither can all men. I remember when I was in military, I noticed how some guys just did not have skills/attitude/charm needed to lead others.
Copied this here, since it summarizes my point:
I do see that women and men are different, just by biological standards. But we can’t make very strict general rules based on those, individual and cultural variations are too wide.
I’m also a firm believer of human/citizen rights and I think I see how they’re turned our societies better for the past 100-150 years or so. In my book that includes civil/citizen rights for women too.
Do stupid/selfish people misuse these rights? Hell yeah
Are we living an era of a shallow individualism? Yes.
Are people more interested about their freedoms than their duties? Sadly so.
What can be done? We’ll that’s the question. If you don’t force people in totalitarian style, it gets complicated. I do ’t have any short answer to this.
Maybe you came from apes, but the rest of us came from humans
So if men evolved to be bigger and stronger, generally for better protection, and women evolved to have stronger sense of smell and color deviation, would it not suggest that we had very different roles traditionally, and that we are still evolved to be better at different tasks?
I do not see a good argument why we would not want to continue specializing in the things we were virtually purpose built for.
I don’t disagree with evolutionary/biological standpoint. Men and women are not the same. I think further research will point out even more differences.
But empirical evidence throught cultures and history shows a lot of nuances and individual variation.
We can look it this way: how much height variates between men? Or how much color deviation varies between women?
Maybe the skill/mental traits/whatever they could be called variate too.
Its so variable that we cant generalize strengths and differences?
Not to a point that we must legally force people live by them
Or not to a point where we claim that women can’t fight for their rights. Or that men are always better leaders.
2 standard deviations?
So only 15% of women like the idea of staying home?
Maybe we could stop incentivizing and brainwashing people to go against the way they always were?
Perhaps that might even help the declining birth rate.
I’m not sure what you’re excactly about here, but I’m not against nuclear families.
I personally live in one. I have wife and kids and I do see this as the best option for the majority of people.
I’m also critical towards current culture. I think too many people are seeking too much of easy and constant enjoyment, and they’re focusing on wrong things in their lives.
I’ve probably should have put 5,5 feet or something.
But I think majority of people do still actually want the traditional things (family, stable living etc.). They just don’t understand it since it disappears among all noise/distractions what our societies are full off these days.
In the US, everything is geared towards having women work and prioritize education through their peak fertility years.
There are 9 female only scholarships for STEM degrees for every 1 male only scholarship.
Some estimates have it as high as 11:1.
Have any of you guys ever smoked a really big joint and thought about how this thread is like a really slow podcast?
No, but now I have plans for tonight.
Actually that would be really funny. Everyone gets on zoom for an hour and record the audio.
Why did “men” go full retard when it comes to the legal system with divorces.
The men in charge use it to weaken other men.
Let me tell you something about what it was like back in the 80’s, man. We had these people called pen pals. We would write letters to each other on sheets of paper with pens or pencils, send them back and forth in paper envelopes, with weeks or months going by in between replies.

Have any of you guys ever smoked a really big joint and thought about how this thread is like a really slow podcast
No but honestly it would probably help even out the tren abuse
Uncle twojar has zero experience with PED’s, which stands in contrast to my experience with really big joints back in the 90’s, which were a better-than-average time to be out smoking really big joints with your friends.
