I don’t fault anyone for not understanding something so nefarious, so vast, and so complicated. I’m just beginning to myself.
Nobody wants to hear that they’ve been a sucker for someone’s lies, but that’s what happened. I was a sucker at one point, too. Maybe I still am, but I’m sure developing a nose for deception in public policy.
I’m a former leftist, too, and we all share the same reasons for joining this particular website, except for the demon who I finally managed to banish from my threads after all these years.
Imo, DJT is floating the rebate check from tariff revenue idea as a precursor to potentially using those checks just in time for 2026. Machiavellian, I like it lol.
I’m actually grateful for all of his persistent, stubborn, and ridiculous replies over the last decade or so, because he was significantly more intelligent than the people I deal with here in Maine. Sort of like training for the main event by sparring with someone tougher than your opponent, which in hindsight seems like an appropriate thing to be doing on t-nation.
I’m up against a lot of really dull people locally for the most part. The exception are the actual bad actors, all of whom possess a good level of cunning, and some even have high intelligence.
The ones with high intelligence don’t engage with me on local social media, seemingly pretending that I don’t even exist, but they’re all reading everything I write at this point. This is just a spitball guess, but I’m guessing 80 percent of the intelligent ones genuinely believe that everything I write comes from a place of ignorance and/or hatred, with the remaining 20 percent being the manipulative liars who know exactly what they’re up to. Maybe even less than that.
I’m actually enjoying the risk of being a local counter-revolutionary just as much as I enjoyed the risk of being a part-time dive bar bouncer. I’m probably at much greater risk doing local journalism than I was doing local doorman work, but I’m willing to take one for the team if it comes to that.
I know your people have a problem with the xiǎo Rìběn guǐzi, but to put it in their terms, I accept that a gyokusai outcome is a possibility.
I had to google both terms (my dialect is canonese). I’ve never heard of, or used, xiao Riben in my personal circle. The japanese were war criminal savages against the chinese, but that kind of (useless, verbal only) attempted disparagement of people that kicked chinese asses is typical (shameful, imo) chinese behavior historically. I should’ve been born japanese, because I don’t think like that; I studied karate over kung phooey for obvious efficacy reasons. That imo typical Chinese attitude is why I think China postures, but will never resort to military warfare, just economic or spy hijinks stuff.
They are every bit as absurd as you imagine them to be.
A business in Lewiston is being disparaged as racist because the owner has spoken at public comment regarding school policies and the rampant gunfire and violence (there’s actually another armed standoff at this very moment).
Even elected officials have joined in the smear campaign. There’s just one problem with their narrative…
It is a special needs childcare business that employs two immigrants and also provides specialized childcare services for immigrant children, along with native Mainers.
In a nutshell, many Americans believe their woke politics gives them moral authority to harass productive people who disagree with them. These people are typically quite stupid and unproductive.
The United States debt is a Kafkaesque Carnival run by pyromaniacs.
The national debt is a runaway freight train, its brakes torn off sometime between Reaganomics and the latest trillion-dollar “emergency” bill, careening off a cliff of fiscal responsibility. In the conductor’s booth? A bipartisan troop of smug, self-congratulatory clowns lighting cigars with deficit-financed flames, each claiming they know how to steer.
Republicans slash taxes like drunken surgeons, promising growth will cover the blood loss. Democrats spend like it’s Monopoly night at Bernie Sanders’ house, assuring us that if we just believe hard enough, the printing press becomes a fountain of justice. Together, they form a sacred coalition of “fiscally illiterate but emotionally confident.”
Every few years they gather on the Capitol steps, solemnly declaring the debt a national crisis right before voting themselves a pay raise and earmarking $3 billion for a new federally-funded wombat sanctuary in someone’s swing district.
Meanwhile, the Fed is the wizard behind the curtain, quietly conjuring dollars from the void, whispering sweet nothings to Wall Street while Main Street dies of inflation-induced organ failure.
And the public? We’re the poor bastards strapped to the hood of this flaming vehicle, arguing over whether red or blue paint would make the wreckage look less tragic.
I was recently talking with a friend of mine here in Lewiston. He’s my age (45), an architect, no serious vices I know about, raising three kids with his wife who also works, lives modestly, and are basically treading water financially, just managing to cover the needs with enough left over for youth hockey and a family vacation once per year.
There’s nothing left but breadcrumbs for honest and hardworking young men, most of whom watch their net worth stay at zero or go negative.
Most of these young people get their news from Tik Tok and headlines. Nick Fuentes is known to my kid and increasingly more young men. He’s a smart and charismatic guy, but he’s also dumb enough to glorify national socialism. I’ve seen other people calling the Nazi economy miraculous, which is just hogwash. It was weeks from collapse at times and would have collapsed without wars of plunder and their own shifty banking system of funny money and MEFO bills.
If Gen X and older millennials don’t get the country sorted out in the next couple of decades, we’re cooked.
My grandparents generation had to fight in a war and so do we, but the stakes for society are actually higher in the information war.
I suspect most online personalities have benefactors with agendas. Fuentes actually surprised me with how sharp he seemed when I first heard him for myself, but he lost me with the Hitler idolizing. There’s nothing conservative or America first about central economic planning, Gleichschaltung, propaganda, totalitarianism, etc.
It sure helps to feed the Trump is a Nazi narrative, as well as draw attention to Fuentes.
Even The Maine Wire, who are the only organized group who really seem to be government watchdogs in Maine, are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit funded by Leonard Leo.
That doesn’t mean they aren’t doing good journalism, but I’m sure they are on some kind of guardrails. They are great opposition media but would they bring the same tenacity if Maine flips?
There are a small handful of people doing independent journalism, writing about council meetings, school committee meetings, and other stuff that the regular news wants to ignore. We have a guy who FOAA’s the Androscoggin Jail booking log every night because our Soros newspaper stopped printing it.
For years a local schizophrenic guy was a leading news source for the town. He literally listened to the police scanner nonstop, then wrote extremely distorted takes about what he just heard. I even made one of his posts when he described a verbal domestic dispute in the bars parking lot as an intense brawl with knives and bats.
The wild part about that guy is that he’s the only reason the public knew about some events over the years that the news media would never cover. They just had to learn a lot that wasn’t true to get those nuggets.
