Herr Starmer, who isn’t a REAL socialist, is locking up his citizens for peaceful speech while talking about UK boots on the ground and planes in the air in Ukraine. He also says it must have “strong US backing”.
On command, people are standing with Ukraine left and right in Maine’s politically-oriented social media circles. They seem serious this time. I wouldn’t be surprised if Lewiston’s city council soon issues a statement expressing our support.
That’s probably about all the backing Starmer will get from the USA.
These European nutcases better not try and trigger WWIII. It may be now or never.

I’m not a leftie, although by American standards I’m not sure where I sit on the political spectrum. In Australia I’m centre right, in Europe you’d probably have called me right wing up until the recent resurgence of far right parties who are not only anti-islam but many antisemitic as the Jews can’t win… far left hates us, far right hates us most of the time etc.
Aus/Europe and most of the anglosphere tends to be more socially liberal than much of America with the outliers existing like Portland Oregeon
But legalized prostitutiion isn’t some kind or crazy proposition that hasn’t been trialled overseas before. Prostitution has been legal where I live for decades, and brothels exist entirely out of public eye… pimping isn’t allowed and the punishments for human trafficking, pimping and even street soliciting (for the prostitutes) in most states is very harsh
Whether this is effective at making this a “clean” industry or not isn’t up for debate… it’s a seedy, gross profession that the desparate often turn to in order to afford college (migrants or anyone who flunked out and can’t take out a loan), afford a drug habit etc and then there’s the 1% of elite professional escorts who genuinely like what the do and they only have to work like 2-3 hours per week to clear over 100k/yr but many top tier clear millions and millions, much of which the government could do a much, much better job taxing as most of the time payment is preferred in cash (because it can’t be traced obviously)
Rates of sexual violence, drug addiction, abusing the vulnerable is still high… and I’m aware many will use hookers to cheat on a partner
but what of those trapped in sexless relationships who can’t leave (for the kids, whatever), what of the 32 year old male incel who would otherwise be a virgin as he is actually genuinely that unappealing he for whatever reason (looks, nothing going for him, lack of charisma etc) actually can’t get any and/or a divorced man is lonely and sad/tired ot the dating game (or even a divorced woman) and craves intimacy
I don’t necessarily see prostitution done in the way it’s done here (licensed by the government and people are often independent in their work) in the same way I view stripping or onlyfans… I don’t have a problem with it being legal under very specific frameworks, it think it could even deter some crazies from doing bad things.
It’s really bad for kids to grow up around street hookers and everything else Socialists have introduced into Maine.
Desperate hookers, desperate addicts and really dangerous people gravitating to my town is a relatively new phenomenon, man-made by not REAL Socialist policy implementation. So are the shootings.

But the kind of prostitution I was talking about isn’t street hooking. I’m opposed to street prostitution… Aside from being an eyesore, it’s bait for predators, it’s degenerate… If prostitutition is legal as I think it should be it needs to be independent escorts/contractors and/or out of public eye completely with licensed issued to workers (and earning tracked), not street hooking and pimping…
Even with the model i’ve outlined drug use is rifle, the hookers are often in unsafe situations (and often exploit their clientele, another aspect not spoken about)
you need to be able to talk the talk and walk the walk… charisma… often means you can easily manipulate a desparate man etc.
Nobody cared all that much when it was discrete. It hasn’t been for a while.
Interestingly, lots of lesbians and feminists are lining up against our Socialist government in Maine now. Once you see it you can’t un-see it, which is how people are waking up and realizing the level of manipulation and deception we’ve been living under.
Boys winning easily at girls sports rubs some the wrong way, too.
All of the organization seems to have magically vanished from our progressive activists. I wonder if DOGE had anything to do with that, as they all know how to make their nonprofit funding sources very murky.
8 people showed up near Maine’s censured state representative’s church to fight for transing the kids, and they all looked like their hard drives should be examined. Let’s see what next week’s episode of Living Through History brings.

I think if you have daughters, 100% this administration has already affected your life in a positive manner. The whole advocacy for biological males beating up/winning against females thing is one of the most bizarre and insane positions I’ve ever witnessed in my life.
Also, if you live in NYC, the benefits of all the money no longer being spent on illegal migrants should eventually benefit the actual legal residents. Of course, this is all dependant on Hochul not dying on some TDS hill and losing federal funding for the state as a whole.
