It’s also ignorant as the socialists in Europe are out in the open and have been for decades. The reality is that the communist and socialist political parties have been losing ground for years. Europe confronted these beliefs since the end of WW2 and it’s quite clear that they have been rejected.
I don’t see why they should trust anyone.
True. Not many European country has socialist governments currently. In Finland 3 of the 4 biggest parties are right wing.
But I suspect Twojarslave uses the term socialist quite freely here.
That’s why the division of power and supervising is really important.
Musk has no mandate. Donald Trump does, achieved through our most recent election that was too big to rig, with many eyes watching more closely than in 2020. All three branches of the federal government are in not just Republican control, but MAGA Republican control.
He’s doing exactly what he was elected to do, exactly what he campaigned on, and Elon serves at his discretion. He can end it anytime. It was clear to me when I cast my vote that he intended on bringing Elon on board to do exactly what he’s doing.
I think it is all fantastic, so far, with no glaring constitutional issues that I can discern.
I’m actually glad Biden stole that election. We needed to experience it. Trump has swept away his opposition in a way we’re just beginning to comprehend.
I realize this upsets people, but so does flooding a peaceful town full of decent people with migrants. 1/3 of our public school student body speaks no English, and that is only one small aspect of the dysfunction.
Trump critics continue to live in the abstract.
I use it very specifically when I refer to contemporary Socialists. The DSA policy platform is plain to read, and it is plain to see all of the DSA policies enacted both nationally and locally, all by people calling themselves Democrats, who insist they aren’t socialists at all.
They introduce polices that are incompatible with core American ideas of government left and right, all in an effort to divide, conquer, and extract wealth for the grifter class.
It was working quite well, for quite a long time.
It is no coincidence Dick Cheney aligned with Democratic Socialist Democrats in this last election cycle in an attempt to stop what is coming.
And this has what to do with Europe?
Interestingly avoided.
European Socialists seem to be running the same playbook as the DSA, although I do not know the proper names to call them.
What do you have to do with T-Nation?
I don’t think European socialists are very coherent group, nor they have any common playbook. Values maybe, but the applications differ.
There are also a lot of new right-wing groups and parties in Europe. All are conservatives and nationalists, but only some are far-right, some pro-Russia, some authoritarian.
They aren’t coherent group either.
I actually remember that these groups tried to co-operate (Steven Bannon was somehow linked to this), but they end up failing, since they have different perspectives and priorities.
One thing is certain to me from what I’ve observed in the last six years in Maine. They nearly all lie about being Socialists.
A good example of what I mean can be found on the Maine Democrat party platform. It is extremely vague and offers no clarity on the actual policies they will pursue. Neither does the campaign rhetoric. They speak in broad narratives only, and everything they say is in broad alignment with the DSA policy platform.
None of their rhetoric contradicts the DSA policy platform. Not one word uttered or written. It is obvious the direction they are rowing in.
Notice the complete absence of any mention of law enforcement or public safety on this platform.
Meanwhile, they have been enacting DSA policies in Maine left and right, at state and local level. People are wising up to this, and I’m doing my part to help everyone learn how to talk about politics like normal people in Lewiston.
Here, have a read.
Then, have a read of the DSA to see the policies being enacted in Maine. It goes further than that too. We’re funding no-profits with tax dollars who openly advocate for the abolition of private prisons and nearly every other extreme DSA policy you can imagine.
They come for EVERYTHING, and lie about it the entire way. Exactly as they have throughout history.

I don’t know much about Maine, but I’ll read these.
You don’t need to. Just note how vague all of the rhetoric is from Maine Democrats, compared to the clear goals of the DSA, which somehow keep getting implemented by people who call themselves Democrats.
Why are you a lying sack of shit?
I skimmed them throught, dems page seemed to be typical liberal center-right political talk. And yes, it’s vague, as major party’s political talk often is.
DSAs text was a surprise. Social democrats in Europe are far less leftist. There were some pretty strong language and some wild goals.
I suspect because it’s a minority party it’s more extreme.
I did notice some similarities, but I would not say they’re saying the same things. Some goals are similar, so maybe dems do have some leftism in them, but there are definitely differences. DSA attacks quite aggressively against US security institutions and is strongly pacifist. I don’t see how that in Dems texts, they seem to raise the traditional US values and institutions quite high.
I also checked Maine’s rebs page and was utterly confused. Is there somewhere a list of goals or values?
Is he trying to deny freed Black slaves citizenship again? I don’t think he’ll ever learn.
“Birthright citizenship” was not established by the 14th Amendment; just through court rulings. Look at U.S. vs. Wong Kim Ark and compare it to what’s happening.
Honestly, I’ve searched for 15 minutes and it’s completely unclear what are specific goals for Maines GOP?
This makes sense if you know the history of these political parties, which most Americans, for obvious reasons, don’t know.
The political history of Europe is quite familiar, and it’s easy to see how left got disillusioned during 70-80s and moved closer to the center. Simultaneously right wing parties did took some socialist ideas, like free education.
In US socialism has always been pretty marginal political ideology, so the strong language is more understandable.
