By the way Jay Campbells TRT bible is a must. And take it slow. Not sure if it ok for me to post this due to a rule, but Ill leave this here. If it violates a rule, I apologize.
If you have good insurance when you find a new GP show him the first blood test and asked about a complete liver panel there are a lot of them and also ask for a complete thyroid panel there are a lot of them. Your skyhigh naddy SHGB should be enough evidence to justify the insurance paying for them. If not you can purchase the tests yourself these days at a reasonable price. We have guys here that can help you read them. If you go the buy yourself we can even help you with a full list of what to buy.
Going on TRT can be a real pain in the ass 5 or 6 years down the road and for the rest of your life. After awhile you just get sick of sticking yourself 2-3 times a week. If you can fix your shgb without TRT consider that you can always go back to TRT.
HTH
JFC. Your SHBG was absolutely off the charts and your doctor just decided trt was the solution. Liver disease, thyroid problems, diabetes. Three things that cause you to have the kind of bonkers number that you had. Also, it’s a pretty reliable bio marker for gastric cancer. Weird how us dumb meatheads know this shit and your highly recommended doctor doesn’t.
And thats why i brought it here, because nobody watches all their numbers like everyone here.
Most doctors dont realize alot of the things you guys do because you have dealt with all of this so much.
I seriously appreciate all the info and help.
I am letting them know that im going off trt and looking for another doctor asap.
I actually do have good insurance being a union plumber. And i do have a family history of diabetes. Although i have been tested for that in the past. But i am definitely going to look for another doctor, and show them the tests and ask for more extensive bloodwork to see what they say.
This is exactly why i brought it up here because i knew there were enough people in here that would know what may be going on and offer better insight.
Ill be scheduling with a new doctor monday and will post here with the new results.
Im in the chicagoland area(western burbs) so im sure that i can find a better one.
Thanks again bro.
You may have to see a couple different specialist. They all do their own blood work and have their own perspective.
I would def go to an endocrinologist. Make sure they check free t3, free t4 and tsh. Also check ferritin and an iron panel.
Then also consider a urologist. Sometimes they have a subspecialty like a reproductive urologist.
Bring a list of conditions that causes high shbg.
Depending on labs or no answers MAYBE a gastroenterologist or hepatologist. Hepatologist is a liver specialist and shbg is made in the liver.
These specialities will probably check for hepatitis infections.
SHBG is a protein made by your liver. It binds tightly to 3 sex hormones found in both men and women. These hormones are estrogen, dihydrotestosterone (DHT), and testosterone. SHBG carries these 3 hormones throughout your blood.
So check DHT as well in labs.
And there’s a bigger list of what causes high s h b g
Thank you, yes I was thinking about a liver doctor but I’m glad you brought up the other one as well. I figured I’d have to go to a couple to try and get an idea of what’s going on. The only thing that sucks is being on the TRT already and stopping it now not getting my shot this coming week, that may throw all my numbers off. So it may be harder for them to figure out what’s going on.
Well I figure if I can find one and give them a call Monday and explain what’s going on and see when they can get me in. I know sometimes it’s a little bit of a wait to get into see a doctor, especially a good one.
I just don’t know if I should have this current doctor prescribe me some thing to help my natural test get jumpstarted again or not.
