TRT Doctor Massachusetts

When I was in for my vasectomy a few years ago the urology office had a lot of info out for testosterone replacement therapy. They were Plymouth Bay Urology but I see they are also part of Greater Boston Urology. http://greaterbostonurology.com/

Thanks for the info, I really appreciate it. I guess it was a false alarm - I talked to my Urologist and told him I wasn’t comfortable with the Testopel implants. He’s going to write me a prescription for Test Cyp tomorrow. I’ll be sure to bring the information regarding what I want and see what he has to say.

Thanks again.

I was looking for a while and then came across Boston Vitality in Stoneham. I called and went in for an appointment. I had been doing TRT for about a year but was dissatisfied with the place I was at.

Boston Vitality is a really knowledgeable office. Doctor is straightforward and very helpful. He’s a urologist and knows his stuff big time.
They took blood, had results in about 24 hours and I ended up with HCG with weekly test cyp injections.

Really like these guys and can’t recommend them enough.

That’s great to hear. Do they take insurance?

Ive been in trt for a year+ with a urologist right now that seems to know what he’s doing, but always interested in what’s out there.

What did they test for blood work?

I see they do tele medicine too. Like bcostigan41 said, do they take insurance? If not what are they charging if I may ask? Also, are you allowed to do the injections yourself?

He doesn’t take insurance but the initial consult and blood was only $95 so it was well worth it.
He’s a urologist too, funny as hell but dead serious when it comes to treatment. They tested a bunch of different blood values and want to do follow up blood every 3 months for the first year (re: for clotting, etc. I think).

Yes, I do the injections myself. I think you could go in and have them do them if you wanted but…I don’t see the point.

Ya, I didn’t do the tele medicine thing, I went into their office. I guess you could if you couldn’t get there during their business hours but I could so I just went in (nice office, nice lobby and no wait so that was good).

Not bad, I will keep them in mind. I havent met a urologist who didnt have a huge sense of humor. Guess you have to when you are handling dudes junk so much.

@NH_Watts If its not imposing, I was wondering if you were thinking of moving forward with the program the resident endo has laid out? Hit me on email in my profile if you feel comfortable talking. Was just curious.

One of the problems with a Massachusetts doctor is - will they prescribe 10ml bottles of Test Cyp and how will I get it filled? To do so, they would have to send it to an out-of-state pharmacy, no?

The reason I say this is that with Dr. Crisler I could not get a local, Mass pharmacy to fill it properly; instead, what they did was break it up into tiny vials lol. And I’d have to go back to get another vial every other week or so. Absurd Mass laws apparently.

I’ve been looking for a new TRT doc and am not impressed so far with anyone I’ve contacted.

Dr. Crisler may have been a pain in the butt sometimes - however, he was brilliant, and I felt comfortable relying on his judgement. Plus he was a great guy overall.

The state of our healthcare system is just atrocious. Good discussion a while back:

I may go out on my own and do a consult once in a while with someone if I have technical questions. More efficient; easier; avoid all of these issues.

I’m in MA and I get my T script through my PCP. Its filled at any CVS.

10ml vials?

Having a PCP like that would be perfect: two birds, one stone. Too complicated over the years to have a separate PCP and TRT doctor. Much preferable. Especially as I’ve been dialed-in for years and my protocol is quite simple; and if I need highly-technical advice, I can always get it from someone else via a consultation.

What happened to private messaging on this site? Guess I haven’t been around for a while.

Im in MA and get my script though a urologist and I get those tiny vials. The first script he wrote was for a 10ml vial, but Walgreens said they couldn’t do that per MA law or something like that.

He wrote the new script in such a way that I get 4 1ml vials a month. I’m injecting 140mg a week, so I always have extra. Have a bunch saved up.

I’d be interested to hear how things work out for you.

Well, the thing to do would be to get your doc to send the script to Empower Pharmacy (TX) or something alone those lines; and then, they will mail your meds to you.

But, with a Mass Doc it IS a complication.

Pain in the rear and totally pointless law/regulation.

Yes 10ml vials filled by CVS. Been getting them for a year and a half. I have an endo that I see too but that is just for blood work. That makes my wife and PCP happy that someone in the know is watching over me. Neither doc cared if I kept the script with my local PCP so I did.

Also to note the vials are supposed to be discarded 28 days after they are punctured but thats a waste :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye: So I have an extra 9 vials at this point.

I see my pcp and she prescribed me 100mg every week so Walgreens gives me 2 - 200mg bottles every month($8 a month w/insurance) and my pcp gives me all the supplies for injections for about 2 months at a time so at my next refill I’ll need to go in for blood work and get more supplies. Luckily for me Walgreens is 2 buildings over from where I live and my pcp is half a mile from work. I’m feeling my dose needs to be up’d and or split dose to multiple times a week.

Empower will not ship anything larger than a 1ml vial to MA unfortunately

I’ve gotten 10ml test cyp from Empower for years in MA?

hmmmm…interesting idea. Very important to have a buffer for sure. How do you make this happen?
