Tragic Milestones in Iraq

A letter to the editor of the The Federalist:

“I wanted to write a few lines in support of The Patriot and your effots. Our son, an Army Spec/e-4, was killed outside of Baghdad. He was proud to go to Iraq and fight for freedom and he gave the last full measure for this great nation. I am tired of the media bashing our president. I want to speak out and tell our fellow Patriot countrymen the truth about Iraq, all the good and just causes our brave young men and women are accomplishing for our great nation and the people of a free Iraq. We met President Bush at Fort Carson, where families who have lost children in this war told him we were united behind him and that he should maintain his resolve in the campaign against terror. I was a Marine. When I met Mr. Bush, I knew I was in the company of a true leader – he is an honest good man. My wife told how proud our son Ron would have been to have met him. He said ‘No mam no it would be an honor to have met your son,’ and our President opened his arms with tears in his eyes and held us all in a hug. He is the man for the job the only man who can lead this nation in what I believe is one of the most dangerous times for this great Republic. God Bless The United States Of America and, as noted at the bottom of each edition of your e-journal, ‘God Bless our Patriot Armed Forces standing in harm’s way around the world in defense of our liberty, and for the families awaiting their safe return’.” --Richmond, Virginia

This is in response to your statement made a few posts back. 1000 casualties when compared to prior wars and conflicts is historically low…but not pretty damn good. A coupla buddies of mine were killed in Iraq, and I know I have come EXTREMELY close to becoming a statistic. But trust me man, every lost life over there is a tragedy. It doesn’t matter if it’s one casualty or a thousand. Remember back in '93 in a little shithole country called Somalia?? Yeah, ONLY 18 of some of our finest soldiers died, but we killed a lot more of them, right? WRONG. Every one of our service men is worth 1 million of the enemy in my eyes. Keep up the good posts, guys. RLTW
