I tore my quad tendon about 2 months ago doing Brazilian Jiu Jitsu; had surgery 8 weeks ago and have been doing PT for the past 6 weeks. I’ve been making good progress and have increased my ROM every week until recently. I seem to have hit a plateau at 90 degrees. I do knee slides every day 3 to 4 times a day, but I can’t break this plateau. My knee, while much more flexible than it was 6 weeks ago, is still extremely stiff. Any suggestions on how to increase ROM and/or decrease knee stiffness?
I wouldn’t get extremely worried at 2 months out. Are you still working with a physical therapist? If not, I would continue to work with one until you can achieve at least an estimated 80% of the range of motion you could reach prior to the injury. If you continue to be stuck without making any improvements over the next 2 weeks you should go visit your surgeon to inquire about the stalled progress in ROM.
Yep, still working with a PT. Thanks for the advice!
