If you haven’t seen the movie, don’t watch this. This is the climatic end and I wouldn’t want to spoil a good movie for you.
The Outlaw Josey Wales is my favourite Western. Anyone seen The Assassination of the Outlaw Jesse James (Brad Pitt)? I’ve heard it’s pretty good but haven’t seen it yet.
If you’re going to list HBO shows then I reckon I can throw video games into the mix…Gun on Xbox 360 is epic.

This isn’t even the scene I wanted. I originally wanted to post where Wyatt Earp storms the river bank, even though he’s trapped in crossfire by the Curly Bill and his gang.
“Looks like we’ve gotcha in a bit of a crossfire!”
Should also mention Quigley Down Under…haven’t seen it in forever but Tom Selleck is a pretty badass dude and it was a cool movie.
Honorable Mention: Wild Bill. I’ve only seen parts of the movie, but this clip is crazy. And they picked the best man to play Wild Bill in Jeff Bridges. Dude can act.
Don’t touch a man’s hat.
Blazing Saddles!

i LOVE that movie (…Jesse James…)! its incredible, but VERY long. so make sure you’re aware of the run time, make sure you’re aware that in spite of being badass, it is more of an arthouse flick (i.e., less action then you may want), and is less about James and more about Ford. but i think its a fine film. just make sure you’ve got three hours and enough beer or whiskey to last.

The Cowboys
That’s a great one.
John Wayne’s Wil Andersen would have made a great T-Nation man.
What about Brokeback Mountain? I mean it won movie awards and stuff didn’t it?
Ned Kelly is a good movie.

And the dialogue:
“You ever seen anything LIKE THAT???”
“Man, I never even HEARD of anything like that.”
While not an American western everybody HAS to see THE MAN FROM SNOWY RIVER (Australian), with Kirk Douglas. All the guys are chasing after a bunch of wild horses to get back one prized escaped stallion that Kirk Douglas believes a young hired hand (“a grubby mountain man”) let loose. The kid was set up, of course. But the old man resents the boy for several reasons and a friend of Douglas (who was also a friend of the boy’s late father) convinces Douglas to allow the boy to join the chase to retrieve the horse.
The climactic scene is killer: The whole herd of wild horses (with the stallion) jumps the edge of a cliff, racing down a nearly completely vertical slope. The riders all stop because there’s no way they’d go down that slope, then the boy cracks his whip and sails over the the whole lot, going over the vertigo-inducing edge. The race down the slope is the most terrifying thing… but, unlike everyone else present, the boy and his horse were raised in the mountains so he has the kind of experience to stay with it, though you shut your eyes at one point… Absolutely incredible.
The whole thing, filmed with families of professional stunt riders, was completely for real. The big scene got a lot of attention in the U.S. when the movie came out.
Also, tv westerns (yea, I’m going there): Everyone loved GUNSMOKE but I used to cut school for THE BIG VALLEY re-runs, a show way ahead of it’s time. And then there’s KUNG-FU, baby!
