Can any of you blokes on the other side of the pond tell me if Top Gear is heavily edited for the US? It’s seems to just kind of jump in and out of segments.

BBC UK shows run straight thru without ad breaks. So when it comes time to edit them into a one hour slot with ad breaks they have to cut stuff out.[/quote]

Thanks! I had a feeling. I hope we aren’t missing too much.

Ah the Bugatti fighter jet vs. the Euro Fighter Typhoon.

I’ll be honest, I used to really like the show being a car nut myself.

However, I’ve caught a few episodes on BBC America, and it seems as if its turned into more a of a talk show. The few I’ve caught always had interviews with celebs over there.

I’d rather it just be about the cars.

Anybody else notice the shift?

well, yeah, they do that bit where they
have celebs race on a racetrack and they have a leaderboard for best time-but they could just talk about cars, that bit does turn into a bit of a talk show…

but,as mentioned before, the BBC over here don’t have any commercial breaks, even for their own shows or news, its a whole hour non-stop.
I guess sometimes they struggle to fill it a bit and pad it out with some chit-chat…

Bugatti fighter jet?
Wasn’t it a car?
Did I miss an episode?

Yup. It was much better when it was focused on testing and talking about new cars, not doing gimmickey things like trying to destroy a VW bus with a sledgehammer, or talking to celebs, etc.

But it still has its occasional great episodes.

Put some wings on that bitch and it would take off…

machine gun turrets as standard and air-to-air missiles optional extras…

I enjoy most of it. The RV race had me rolling on the floor when James plowed Richard into a corner.
