Toothache From Clenched Teeth?

I woke up today with a toothache, although when i brush my teeth, there's no pain, so i don't think there's a cavity. however, if i clench my teeth it hurts.

could this be from clenching my teeth when i lifted yesterday?

Ok, some questions for you;

Is the pain;

constant or intermittant?
dull or sharp?

Is your tooth;

sensitive to hot/cold?
sensitive to sweet food?
sensitive to tapping? (just use a spoon handle or something and give it a gentle tap.

Also, do you feel pain when you clench your teeth specifically, or does the pain arise when you relax immediately after clenching?

it’s a dull pain.

no sensitivity to heat/cold/sweet.

when i clench my jaw, it hurts, but it feels more like the it is the muscle that you can see flex in u’re jaw when you clench u’re teeth.

Many powerlifters that I know wear a mouthpiece when lifting. You might try that. It’s a cheap fix and might help.

No doctor would know without x-rays of the area and testing it directly under pressure and cold. The symptoms you describe could be anything from a cracked tooth that needs a simple filling, a tooth that needs to be endodontically treated, a past filling that needs minor adjustment or even a muscle spasm.

Some people grind their teeth in their sleep or during the day while awake without realizing it. I think one of my uncles does this. A dentist or doctor could probably tell you what’s going on. It’s not a big deal. They can give you a small mouthpiece to put in while you sleep so that you don’t grind through your enamel.

Also, from experience I can tell you that your tooth doesn’t have to be sensitive to touch for you to need a filling. In fact, you don’t really want to wait until it hurts all the time because it might be too late and you’ll be in root canal territory. I did that and it sucked big time. Best go see the dentist.
