Pancake batter is normally made from wheat, but can be made from potatoes too. They’re sweet and the red stuff is syrup, which is just a really sweet, sticky sauce. Normally served with breakfast.

Think of a pancake as a farinata that is cooked in a frying pan, and usually eaten for breakfast, topped with maple syrup or honey or jam or something similar, along with melted butter if you don’t care about the dreaded fat/carb combination.
