Thyroid Basics Explained

Yes, it takes slightly longer to get a reading and the temperature stays the same for a moment until it beeps.

I give up on the drops but still want to try IR… would this be ok for the 50 mg? sorry im just not sure about this stuff… http://www.amazon.com/Optimox-Iodoral-50mg-90-tabs/dp/B002D9PCKY

The first concern would be that one might not tolerate 50mg. But then the tablets are easily snapped in two. The 1.25mg tabs might be more flexible. http://www.amazon.com/Optimox-Iodoral-180-tabs/dp/B000X843VG/ref=pd_sim_hpc_3

I did not look at the cost per mg.

If thyroid labs are good and ft3 and ft4 are in the higher end of range could iodine still be lacking or would it show in the labs?

Could be as you have stated, but rT3 can then be blocking fT3 and the evidence is low body temperatures. In that case, one may have adrenal fatigue to some degree and/or iodine issues as well.

Ok i wasn’t sure about amazon and getting shipments of iodine through customs just cause we don’t seem to have it here. I drove over to new york and picked this up - Potassium Iodide 32.5mg by Source Naturals … will this be okay?

Sorry for asking so many questions… Thank you for taking the time to respond…

also if rt3 is blocking ft3 should this be corrected before trying to implement IR? It seems i may have some degree of adrenal fatigue if in fact it is a proper diagnosis which still seems to be way up in the air as far as some doctors are concerned. I just got Wilsons book but have yet to dip into it… Also iodine seems to be a big topic but still a lot of people saying over loading can in fact hurt the thyroid and alot of debate on how much is to much… I am very careful when it comes to supplements and the internet but do value your opinion and try and listen without pissing the doc off to much…

Also if im doing blood work will iodine change any labs other then thyroid?

The vitality of different systems depends on the vitality of others. They are all cross linked to some degree. Will these things show up on lab work? Perhaps not in any way that would seem significant from a numbers point of view. We have examples of guys who have deep hypothyroidism where T levels improve with thyroid meds. That is an extreme example but makes the point.

Iodine is iodine, your body will work with it.

Anyone willing to reply… My friend started IR today he took half a pill of 35 mg potassium iodide and told me “my heart was racing like a mother fucker” it took an hour for it to stop and he thought he was gonna die… Any ideas why this might happen? please reply anyone who knows about this stuff…

It can be so many things, but a few theories.
A person who did not need to do that and had at least midrange free T3.
Thyroid went in to hyperthyroid mode which causes tachycardia.

The dose is high.
I personally think IF a person is a candidate for IR, they should take it easy and start at a lower dose 6.25 to 12.5 range.

Your report is unusual. The fact that you and your friend both had the similar issues is then all the more strange from a statistical point of view. Stated another way, very improbable. The simplest explanation is that there is something wrong with the product that you are using.

  • product could be over strength
  • your dosing is wrong
  • product is contaminated, perhaps contained thyroid hormone or Clenbuterol

Please stop creating fear and doubt until you can resolve the above. That will be in the best interests of everyone.

Do not use that product again.

my dosing was what you said one should take. product is 32.5 mg my friend took half and almost had a freakn heart attack… product contains calcium 72 mg, pottassium iodide 32.5 mg… other ingredients dibasic calcium phosphate, stearic acid, modified cellulose gum, colloidal silicon dioxide and magnesium stearate…

on the bottle it says one can take up to 4 tablets once daily for short term use up to ten days… I asked you about the product you said iodine is iodine your body will use it…

My friend is in very good shape and it kicked his ass…

two days later my friend is telling me its hard to swallow and his “lymph nodes” hurt to touch?

taking him to the doctor now… this is just wonderful
