Lol, ya I knew what you meant.

Define earned. People died trying to preserve this nation. If you benefit from that sacrifice then you do indeed have a debt to repay.

So are Navy SEAL skill sets. Who gets paid more? If CEOs went on strike, life would go on. If garbage men went on strike, life would suck.

And beg for a bailout when they screw up.

This is the big thing.

Is it possible that the market does not get the labor price correct in all cases? Should we consider externalities, or just go by where supply and demand meet? Ignoring externalities has lead to some pretty bad outcomes in the past.

To a non-troll? No, I wouldn’t.

A debt to those who died or sacrificed for our freedom? Absolutely. A debt to Craig who never did anything to better himself? Not so much.

Alright. I’m listening/reading.

A debt to the nation they fought and died for. They gave their lives but how many crybabies call that theft? Oh the horror! The government wants money to pay for things.

And those men and women who died, also died for Craig.

They died to give Craig an opportunity to get off his ass and make something of himself. Not so others can support him.

I would say the amount of ā€œCraig’sā€ you are talking about is pretty thin. The majority of people who can work do. The amount of people on food stamps who aren’t haven’t worked recently is quite low. Certainly the amount of households is low. Of course you have some fraud, but this idea that everyone on some type of social assistance is mentally and physically healthy but they just choose not to work.

Many people who receive that are between jobs. SNAP is often short term for a lot of people that aren’t disabled.

I wonder if the hypothetical people we are talking about would rather make sure Craig had food or if they would rather huge companies got bailouts with no or limited restrictions.

Just read this and it reminded me of this thread

I’m probably jaded. I worked for Child Protective Services for a while and all of my cases were drug related. So I everyone I dealt with didn’t work, got welfare (and SNAP), and used it to buy drugs. You see that day in day out for a couple of years and it shifts your perspective.

They suffered from an illness that we do more to prosecute and criminalize than cure and prevent. We’d rather pay more on the back end than pay less on the front end. Gotta keep them prisons full.

We’ll have to agree to disagree there.

You won’t be disagreeing with me but science. Addiction is considered a disease. In short, I don’t agree to disagree when I’m objectively correct. It would make me one of those fragile dolts who believe in the whole speak your own truth millennial bullshit.

*your own alternative truth

Even reading the phrase raises my blood pressure. I really hate that crap.

Homosexulality was considedered a mental illness at one point by science. That doesn’t make it objectively correct.
