Thinking of Joining the US Army

Here’s the pic. 1993. My mom took it. Sheeesh!

god i srsly get a boner everytime you post that picture

Seems like every other American is in the armed forces.

I don’t know a single Canadian in real life in the armed forces.

Hey Nards,

Did Col. Russell WIlliams steal your panties when you were in the army?!?!?

Take the ASVAB and see what you get. If you can get an MOS you want then get it in writing. Or just take what you can get and then go WO (warrant officer) your like a professional in one field, you make good money, your not responsible for everything that goes wrong like an officer and you dont get yelled at like enlisted.

Only 3%, man. Probably less with the budget cuts right now. I think it’s just this forum. I noteced that a lot of us are into some kind of service - EMT, cops, military, etc.

less than 3% of america is serving in the military.

And for those other 97%, unless you are too young, too ancient, too enfeebled, too Canadian, or too batshit crazy that I would be watching you next to me instead of the target on a firing line, you suck. At least put your hand over your heart at a ball game instead of drinking a beer.

He just borrowed them, OK?

i read a recent article saying that something like 75% of the american population is unfit for military service.

crazy.

Did you catch what the prevailing factor was? I’m not sure how tight they are now on prior misdemeanors, weed, small stuff. Back in the day, you could get a waiver most of the non-criminal things.

i’m pretty sure the majority was being a fat fuck/medical related

while definatly more strict now that the surge days, i still know of ppl being granted waivers for non-violent misdomeaners (sp?)

Yeah, it was ramapant morbid obesity. It’s why the AF has changed it’s recruiting style to advertising sci-fi schlock and the army is changing it’s basic training and PT tests.

if you want to serve, you should do so as an officer. if you have a 4 year degree already go into officer training school- OTS. or you could join an rotc program over 300 colleges have them. your life will be much much better if your an officer

You forgot people that don’t pass physical requirements even though they may be healthy.

Well, when you think of the fact that half of the population is women, that really leaves half of the population unfit

I disagree with this. I think it depends on what you want to get out of it. I would be extremely unhappy if I lived my life as an officer. I enjoy being a first line leader and operator.

I swear that we had this exact same thread about free time in the military within the last year.

While I’m not an operator (I wish!), I completely agree with this. I’m extremely happy to have served as an enlisted man.

Choose a job where you train it everday say a crew chief for Helis, its training every day in real life. Its realistic every day…if you can go warrant right away… Like Holy Mac said its the best thing ever if you give it your all, if your first mindset is free time then it might not be for you.
Its tough but like anything in life, if its easy its not worth fighting for.
