Edgy,

I absolutely hated them back in the 80s.

But a couple of years ago I listened to some of their stuff and it was really good!
Now I like 'em!
Not mad at all.

They have interesting progressions, great vocals, and play well.

Agreed, I gave a listen to their greatest hits and there is some very good stuff on it. I used to feel the same way about most of the genre, which unfortunately was when I was in my late teens early twenties. I was too cool for music that wasn’t either REAL Rock and Roll, edgy or overly complicated. Surprising how many girls don’t like being told their music sucks.

X2!

In fact, as recently as 2008 I told a woman on another forum that Tears For Fears sucked!

I came back a month later (after giving them a proper listen) and told her I was wrong.

Barry Manilow. He writes the songs that make the whole world sing.

People hate that?

This explains a lot.
Well, they all seem to dislike it when I do it.

I like babies crying.

Hard to explain…I don’t want them to cry too long or because they’re in pain…it’s just that there’s something honest, even primal, about a baby crying.

You say that as a childless dude.

Wait until you have a child. It’s a sound you never want to hear.
And I say that without irreverence.

But I am also the guy that takes care of 18 four year-olds!

I should state that a baby crying on a plane is OK with me because I know the babies ears are probably hurting like hell.

Uh so you like the sound of children in pain…and your a teacher…okay sounds about right.

Until you hear ONE cry at 2am, a classful of 'em isn’t a match.

Yep. Understood, but many bystanders have no patience for it. Especially on a long flight.

I’d rather hear a baby cry than a 20 something girl talk.

Want a cure for that?

Spend a day working in a peadiatric emergency department in full blown flu season lol. You have to experiance it to believe it. Hour after hour after hour…
