Sorry to hear that. When I was in advertising, I’d get a job review over an expensive lunch then a raise.
Now that I’m in construction, I’ve never had a review but am still here after 15 years so figure I’m doing fine.
Thanks - it wasn’t as bad as I made it seem - it was actually very good - just when they point out places that have room for improvement it always makes me feel like I’m the absolute worst at that moment. Later on when i reflect and take it in as a whole, it was a pretty good review - not my best, not my worst.
Had a veridesk riser at my last job. Just sat on the normal desk, spring loaded. Paid $289 for it with company discount.
Scavenged this baby after I laid off the last of the hourly guys and sold everything in the shop. They used it to punch their hours into jobs.
I suck at constructive criticism. Even at a nice lunch, with 99% glowing, the 1% room for improvement made me want to tell my boss to get fucked. I prefer the current system of being left to my own devices to run my own things.
Can’t believe you walked into that one…
It’s a trap you silly man!!!
I forget exactly where I’ve read this, I think it was from Thinking, Fast and Slow, but negative things, or things we view as negative, impact our memory disproportionately more than positive events or interactions…
Decaf coffee. What is the point?
I just got warned that the coffee machine in the office isn’t working for decaf. Yeah, no worries. I wanted a coffee, not a pointless cup of hot brown sadness.
Disappointment in liquid form…
Unrelated, but this reminded me of it and goes with the thread… About a year ago we had some kind of cost reduction team “standardize” our coffee for us. We now get this stuff passed off as dark roast, where it has to be just bottom of the barrel coffee mixed with bottom of the barrel coffee that was set on fire. I brought a French press in, hate cleaning it but the alternative is just undrinkable.
Get an aero press. So easy to clean up after.
Was just about to suggest the same thing…great minds and all that…
That looks great, thank you!!! If only all my complaining was this fruitful.
Hah! Reminds me of Starbucks closing their online store (what major retailer does not sell online???) to “force” people to shop at their physical stores!
The best part??!!! You have no idea which store carries what -it all depends!!!
They “forced” me to buy this for Christmas/Birthday/Chinese New Year/etc:
Doesn’t piss me off, per se. Just something I find … interesting:
The shoes some women wear in the office make is sound like a stable of clydesdales prancing around the office…like they’re filming fucking Ben Hur in the hallway…
Was followed by an unmarked cop car for a few miles today. Could tell the guy was in a cop uniform. Made sure I went exactly the speed limit.
I look back and it has an OHIO muni plate on the front (was driving in PA, which have no front plates on cars). Increased speed by 10mph once I figured that out.
Something that tends to make me temporarily insane is when people use an off duty city cop car as a pace car on the highway. Bruh, go a reasonable speed, that dude just wants to go home and doesn’t want to deal with the bullshit of pulling you over for going 75 in a 65 … just fuckin don’t drive like a dink…
I was going through a speed trap at the time. Big hill on a 2 lane road where it’s 45mph at the top of the hill and 35mph in the valley. Troll place to be sure.
Lmao fucking hell hahaha
