And up until two years prior to that visit, slavery was legal in Saudi Arabia. I doubt Malcolm met one former American slave in his lifetime. When he was in KSA, he probably came into contact with many. They would be easy to spot because of the scarring on their faces. There are still former slaves living there. The ignorant, and he was ignorant, only see what they want to see.
One could argue that there are still actual slaves there.
SA was and is a far more racist country than sny other one he mentioned, by any metric imaginable.

Even today, at a time when reparations regarding the Transatlantic slave trade are so often brought up, you might hear how the US was the recipient (not even the main one, not by a long shot) or Portugal was one of the biggest suppliers, when they (and other European powers) were more like the middlemen.
The real suppliers, where the supply chain began, rarely get mentioned.
I’ve plucked thousands of these out of just about every part of my body over the years, and the never cease to piss me off.
They just suck.

Yeah. I was rebuilding a broken cast iron part by brazing and building up with brass, using a wire wheel to clean the flux and make shiny.
I should probably put this in the win thread, but the story is posted here, so here’s the follow-up. Sorry for the bad photo, I was on a ship in Alaska.
After a few days of checking this and getting the same result, I ate a bunch of cinnamon rolls, stir fried rice, hot chocolate, biscuts and gravy, a coke for the first time in about 15 years (it’s still gross,) and chicken fingers with honey mustard. I felt kind of gross, but had to do it for science. After waiting for 30 minutes, blew a 0.008.
What does piss me off is when a ship has the light switch for the head located outside the door, within reach of a child.

Congrats! That had to really suck.
I’m no parent, but sometimes it pisses me off the way some of these cantankerous miserable single mothers talk to their children.
I observe it in public sometimes.
