I moved out two years ago. Have equity in the house that I could use to buy a place, but according to NY law, I canāt force the wife to cash me out.
So, I pay the mortgage, and my rent, while close to $200K in equity sits in the house.
I thought I was doing well enough with regular exercise and a so-so diet, except for my one long standing favorite vice- smoking, figuring it all kind of evens out.
Well, it doesnāt. Last week in the early hrs. of Wednesday morning I had a pretty serious heart attack. One artery was 100ā° blocked and now has a stent. Another is at 80% and will get stented in about 4 weeks.
Iām kinda pissed with myself for playing such a silly game of give and take with my health, the well being of my family and all of that other stuff related to existence.

Thanks. I was amazed and a bit ashamed to see how many people quickly rushed to help. Amazed at their supportivenes, and a bit ashamed that I kind of lose track of how many good people are right around me.
There was a bit of confusion about whether I had a side effect of a medicine or congestive heart failure afterward and that kept me down for an extra few days, but since Sunday I popped up and got moving pretty good.
Normal.
Awesome.
My dad had a triple bypass ten or so years ago, heās 82, and then about five years ago had TURP valve replacement. Three days later he walked about three miles with us at the mall, amazing.
