Of course that part was terrible, but I didn’t see a very big difference in the basic feel of 3 as compared to 2 or the first one. Lots of swinging in a bad CG way with Mary Jane tied up somewhere high.
The silliest thing for me with number 3 was the coincidences.
The idea that a black goo from space would happen to find the one guy who has these strange spider-like powers and that the one guy who falls into some science experiment and becomes melded with sand is the guy who killed that Spider-Man’s uncle and later when Spider-Man rids himself off the black goo in a church tower the black goo falls onto the only guy who wants Peter Parker dead. Ugh.
I quite like Spiderman 3, it tied up the story fairly well and had some good plot points but did suffer from some stuff.
I just dont like when people criticise it for being campy, all of the original spider man movies were campy. Look at green goblin in the first movie for example.
Spiderman movies should be fun and campy, not dark/weird like amazing spiderman since the humour side of spidey becomes so incoherent to the rest of the movies gritty tone.

Roy can probably help me out here, but I once read that Glenn Danzig was approached to play Wolverine before the first X-Men, but turned it down. Any truth to that?
Yeah, that’s true. It was back in the mid-nineties before Singer got involved. Around that time they were pursuing Bob Hoskins to play Logan. Not sure if that’s ridiculous or inspired.
Bob Hoskins, as in “Eddie Valiant” Bob Hoskins? There’s no way…
I kind of see where they were going with that, but they probably hadn’t seen him in anything later than The Long Good Friday. It would have taken a lot of work to get him into even passable shape.
Don’t get me wrong, think Hoskins is a terrific actor. But, there needs to be more than a passing physical resemblance in a role like that. Being short and hairy isn’t enough. By the easy, Roger Rabbit is the shit.

meh, it enterainted me. I liked them all cept for X3
I even liked X3 because I don’t give a fuck about the X Men and thought it was entertaining.
I didn’t mind it either, but the way internet talk goes X2 was above reproach and X3 was a disaster.
The same thing with Spider-Man 2 and 3. While I didn’t think Spider-Man 3 was great, it didn’t stand out to me as incredibly bad…and didn’t seem much different from the first two.
I’ve seen X2 twice and it was good, but in the same way I was surprised to find out Spider-Man 3 was so hated I was surprised to find this one so adored.

The suggestion was made by X-Men writer Chris Claremont back when James Cameron was interested in directing. It’s one of those casting rumors that walks the fine line between genius and insanity.
But, like I said, Hoskins would’ve been a somewhat viable choice back when he made The Long Good Friday. By the time they filmed Roger Rabbit, Hoskins was in Danny Devito territory.
That just brings back a memory of 1980 and my older brother going to see Friday the 13th in the theater and later he told me how scary and gory it was, but I thought he was talking about The Long Good Friday, as I’d seen adverts for it on TV or something I guess (I was 7 then) so I thought for a while that Bob Hoskins (I didn’t know his name, I just knew he was the little hairy guy) was a serial killer in a movie.
Why has no one mention Danny Devito as Wolverine? He’s shot, gotta be pushing 3 bills and since he’s Italian, undoubtedly covered in hair. Everything you need in a super hero.

No way was Tom Platz in twins…was he?!
That’s the thing. He’s in the credits, along with Roy Callender. And I can see Roy Callender in the movie (when Arnold’s character jogs over to one of his sperm donor dad’s houses) ) but I can’t see Platz. Maybe he was in a scene that was cut. Or maybe he was in the same scene as Roy Callender but just off screen.
