That’s a very interesting perspective. You wouldn’t happen know any more about what the unions did would you? And is this a mostly American thing? I don’t know much about that part of the subject but I would think this wouldn’t be too much of a problem in France considering nearly 75-80% of their energy is nuclear.

Unions did their typical union thing and raised their prices after work started so costs exceeded estimates, and some workers deliberately worked slower than normal to be paid for more hours. There were even some instances of sabotage, so union worker had to be paid to re-do work they had already been paid to to.

I am not familiar with the French power grid but keep in mind that with current fission technology getting a higher percentage of power from nuclear reactors is not possible because the outputs cannot be changed nearly as quickly as the daily draw changes. That is why you will often see a coal “chaser” plant that is not always running next to a nuclear plant.
