I’ve yet to find an economics lesson I don´t like ZEB. But really, this isn’t a very important point so I won’t argue it further. We both agree that the economy is in bad shape and any further debate would simply be arguing semantics.

That’s why about two posts ago I told you that you never really had a point. I think you like to post just to try to get a rise out of me. As I said from post ONE we are NOT in a recession as per the best economists definition of a recession. And, no we don’t have to debate the economy being in bad shape. Most everyone agrees on that. So why did you post to begin with?
There really was no point to it.

Grade AAA Bullshit
The US acts in its own interests alone. It is, as I have said, the opposite of altruistic. It creates as many bad guys as it destroys. It has been more than happy to prop its share of bad guys and often has turned a blind eye to their habits, only turning against them when all other avenues have been lost, and sometimes not even then. I have no illusions about China’s military but at least they don’t pull this Team America schtick out.
Yes, I know, given your age and the fact that you are not an American you say crap like this. I’ll just remind you of who saved the world …HOW MANY TIMES?
Um, zero times?
But keep the hubris coming, it is certainly entertaining.

If it were not for the US Austria would be part of Germany. And you would be kneeling in front of a photo of Adolph Hitler every morning.
Do some reading.
So?
If it were not for the US there would have been no Hitler.
Also, Austria < THE WORLD !!!11!!!
Ha ha…I’m done with you. Go hate American somewhere else.
Do I hate the continent?
The people?
The government?
Or is that all the same in your head?
They could drape dogshit with the American flag and you would probably salute it.

I salute freedom and respect America and the brave soldiers who served protecting people like oh…say your ancestors.
Cool!
This is just like The Stepfords wives.
Do you reboot when you experience cognitive dissonance?

I know your little austrian ears burn when you hear things like this, but the USA is the greatest nation on the face of the planet. And blows right past little austria in every category.
It must really suck to be so jealous.

Meh…
Shadowstats says you are in a recession.

Ir also say you unemployment rate looks something like this:

And your inflation rate something like this:
And now we take a moment to contemplate whether the US government could find it in itself to “revise guidelines” in order to under report inflation and over report employment and rises in productivity?

Of course I like to post to get a rise out of you. I still had a point though. Let’s just quote the relevant passage in its entirety:

First of all we are not even in a recession, so depression talk is premature.
Offically, sure. But they are re-computing and all the private companies (who are usually more accurate) say we are in a double-dip.
Private companies can “say” whatever they like. The United States is NOT in a recession. As the definition of a recession is having two down quarters of GDP, or a 1.5% rise in unemployment within the past year.
With that said, I do believe that we are headed for a second recession once again. Obama is just about ready to throw away his last hope of bringing the US out of this economic funk and assuring himself reelection.
You are saying that all talk of “depression” is premature because the US isn’t even in a recession. This is very misleading because the definition of a recession depends on a statistic that is very easy to manipulate through simple inflation, of which there has been plenty. The only reason the numbers don’t show the US as being in a recession is because the way we define recessions is deliberately misleading. The fact of the matter is that the US economy IS in a depression and as such talk of it is NOT premature. That was my point.

No, you’re a wet behind the years kid from Finland. And you know very little of American history. Did you study WW I? WWII? Do you know what the hell you are talking about when it comes to the greatest nation on the face of the earth? No. I would still rate you ahead of other foreigners who come on this site who are much older than you, as I don’t think you hate America for the sake of it. Peole like Orion for example are firstly jealous and then ignorant on top of that (bad combination). So…at least you’re ahead of types like that.
What color is the world that you live in Skippy? I attribute that comment to your youth and inexperience otherwise I’d have to call you and idiot and I don’t think you’re that stupid.
If only you had just a modicum of sense when it came to how nations behave. Every nation on the face of the earth is out to further their own interests boy. That doesn’t mean that a nation cannot do good because it might be in some way self serving. A Police Officer might save your life someday. Are you going to turn to him and say “you’re only doing this because they’re paying you?” And by the way Police Officers are usually hated (feared) as well. Please…do more reading and less posting. You have a startling lack of understand of how geo politics works.
Seriously, do the work. I don’t think that we can communicate anymore unless you start making sense.
What you have written is completely wrong, startingly inaccurate and without any common sense.
I would respond further, but I am on the train to London to help clean it up after some disgusting scrotes started vandalising the place.

Then your point sucks because it relies on YOU speculating that those in power are manipulating statistics. Maybe they are and maybe they’re not. But you and I cannot say either way. In fact, every government over the past 60 years could have been manipulating statistics. Right? But you and I have no proof of that. So based on the definition of a recession—we’re not in one junior.
(yawn)
Got anything else?
Edit: Why don’t you take that train ride with your fellow 20 year old. The two of you could discuss economics and how awful America is on the way. And take Orion with you. Well I can’t fault you for your honesty. And I could not agree more. Let’s face it when world leaders, and corporate executives are looking for someone to head up an important position we both know they’re not saying “if we could just find a 20 year old who has lots of Internet message board experience I think we could make some real money.”
No…they’re not saying that at all.
Enjoy your train trip Sparky.

Oh but we can.
Shawdowstats only does its statistics exactly the way the US government did in the pre Clinton years.
And now, miraculously, after “hedonic” measurements are introduced and gas and food and housing was taken out of the core CPI (cause gas, food and lodging hardly matter to the average person, right?), it miraculously turns out that all important statistics look so much better than before.
That is lying right there.
For the adults who are interested:
The definition of a recession according to actual economists is two consecutive quarters of negative economic growth as measured by a country’s gross domestic product (GDP).
Now I know that most well respected economists are over the age of 20 but I’m still going to have to go with their time tested definition. Sorry boys. But you could post more and try to impress me with all of your 12th grade knowledge. What were your SAT scores anyway? (might as well broach a topic you actually know something about)

A) Not really, that is used by some and not by others.
b) If US government statistics were not complete horseshit that would be exactly the situation you are in right now.
So, you point was?
Also, since when is “adult” a euphemism for retarded or willfully ignorant?

Could you post a link with the Austrian national anthem? I’d do it but it’d just not worth my time. And I know once you hear it you’re going to be so engrossed that you’ll forget your US hating ways and maybe tear up a little at your great national heritage.

That’s a ridiculous response and pretty much has nothing to do with what I said. You obviously didn’t understand what I was saying and it wasn’t because I was unclear.
And stop trying to pin hatred for America on me. Not only is it childish and beneath a grown man, it’s also incredibly misplaced. I love America, Americans and the ideals on which the nation was founded. I have dozens of American friends, I spend a good deal of my year in America and I plan on pursuing an MS in America after I finish my BS in Iceland. So just drop the holier than thou attitude.
