The Push to 2020 Has Begun!

If TDS is a thing, then there is another side to it which manifests itself with his defenders who, for some reason can’t admit they are fans. They preface everything with, “well, I don’t agree with everything he says but…” or, “it’s just Trump being Trump so why act like it means anything?”

The truth is, although they won’t admit it, is that if Obama or any democrat even hinted at some form of gun control, they would be on here, Facebook or wherever, calling for their heads.

How do we know this? Because they have already reacted that way on that subject.

Trump is talking about violating the First Amendment and they find some excuse to defend his words and actions. Again, if they say they would have reacted the same had it been about guns, they are liars.

If it had been about religion they would have been up in arms as well.

It’s funny how Rights seem to pass through a political filter when they are supposed to be universal.

Also, local has different meanings depending on location.

I didn’t defend Trump’s actions. I said I disagreed with them, but also acknowledged the legitimacy of the position.

It seems as though anything short of declaring that I’m voting for Joe Biden is hypocritical to you somehow. Perhaps my take is off, but I’ll be fair and let you clarify.

Let me ask you (and everyone else) a two-part question.

Is there any set of circumstances where a person could vote for Trump and still be a principled, decent person?

If so, what would such a person look like to you?

I’m on board. Do you think the Democrats would be?

Oh yes, the racial breakdown is in their favor. It’s the Republicans who would object as it would mean more non-white people at the polls.

There is always a but.

How about mobile dmv ID cards? I’m sure it has been suggested.

Why do Democrats oppose voter ID laws? Why don’t they make ID’s free for people who are incapable of obtaining one on their own? It’s not like they are incapable of doing so but instead they actively fight against the very idea.

  1. Voting for him and defending his actions are two different things.

  2. FOR ME; Biden has nothing to do this; but 8 years of Conservative Weeping, Whaling and Gnashing of teeth at President Obama does…and I have been very clear on that. Then along comes Trump…

…crickets… (except to defend Trump…)

I don’t know about you but, there is no but when it comes to guns, God and abortion for many Trump fans.

Your questions make no sense. The issue is an issue in Republican controlled states.

So, the answer to part one is…

No?

Am I reading you correctly? Not that I’m surprised, given how a lot of these conversations seem to go…

You didn’t answer part 2, which had nothing to do with Joe Biden or the Obama presidency.

It is a fairly straight-forward two-part question. Can you answer it clearly?

@twojarslave:

I personally know a lot of decent, “principled” (which can be very subjective, by the way) who Vote for Trump; who also exhibit TDS.

I usually cut off Political Discussions with them so we can remain friends and/or associates.

(I can’t remember who it was; maybe @zecarlo? TDS is definitely applied to the wrong people).

I’ll try one more time to get a clear answer. It seems as though part one is now a “yes”, but I’m really curious about part 2.

Is there a set of characteristics that separates a principled, decent Trump voter (or even someone who can gasp understand his general point-of-view) from the masses you typically refer to as “Trumpkins” and all of the negative stereotypes you apply to them?

I think that’s a fair question.

Hold up.

  1. I have used the term “Trumpublicans” from time to time. I have never written “Trumpkins”.

  2. I respond to hypocritical actions and circumstances. Stereotypes are not things I place on large groups of people I may disagree with. I will leave that kind of thing up to Trump.

A principled Trump voter would just say that a president openly threatening to violate the First Amendment is committing a despicable, anti-American, act and would seriously question if he would vote for him again. And there would be no buts or excuses. No one should get a pass on that. Not even a reality show celebrity who is always in character.

Let me add to the “Voter Fraud” Issue:

  1. When you talk to election officials; even in Red States; Voter Fraud that goes to the level of affecting elections simply does not exist.

  2. Even Red State Officials are pushing more and more for mail-in voting (which as a whole they have found no problem with).

As someone once said; Trump’s Voter Fraud push is an “Issue Looking for a Problem…”

Well, this showed up in the first thread I used CTRL-F on. Once in this thread, too. Some of this stuff is just getting silly now.

In your defense, this seems to be a term used more often by other frequent posters, so you get a pass for not remembering that you’ve used that word before.

“Never” was wrong; I have used the term, but rarely.

I think “Trumpublican” is simply more descriptive.

(Let me know when you start scrutinizing Trump as closely, @twojarslave…)
