I suppose being skeptical of claims is a good starting spot. Being skeptical of claims made by a far right media source should be common sense (same goes for far left).
I don’t see how this is relevant.
Let’s pretend I am on a jury and Joe Biden is on trial for being corrupt. Now the evidence being presented is what has been presented to me so far. The defense asks how can we know this is not a fabricated document. The prosecution responds with “how can you be sure everything is not fabricated”. Then the prosecution brings in someone who makes claims about what the emails say. The defense says, let’s look at the emails. The prosecution says, well here are other people that say this is what the emails say. The defense says, let’s look at the emails. The prosecution won’t produce the emails.
As a juror, should I give any weight at all to what the prosecution has said? I wouldn’t. Why should I?
Anything that the mob wants should automatically be a huge red flag for everyone else. And I’ll bet all I own that Rudy has no real clue that they are in fact mobsters. If they all want to discredit Biden, the logical next questions to ask are: “why” and “what bothers them about Biden”.
Sure, and I think that’s entirely reasonable. I’m most CERTAINLY not claiming Biden is a saint or never did anything shady. It would be insane to claim that a politician never did anything shady. I’m not insane.
I never mentioned anything about Russia as it pertains to this scandal man. And I am most certainly not saying that.
I AM saying this does not yet pass the smell test for me, and giving the reasons why.
Yes. I’ve been following this story up until the last couple days. The recent links I have not yet looked at.
In an election year where anything he says will be Tweet-stormed to death by Trump and used against him? Not particularly. Speaking pragmatically I’d say being quiet is probably the best tactic of a bad lot of choices available for the next two weeks.
They will tie up the loose ends. The bigger story is actually the cover-up by twitter and Facebook and the mainstream media. Crooked politicians are nothing new but cover for crooked politicians is. The media loved Clinton (Bill), but they didn’t hesitate to cover his scandal. Now, we have a politician, with his proverbial hand caught in the cookie jar and the verifiably lie about it. This is a new chapter in media corruption.
This story didn’t come from Trump’s tweets and there is a simple solution, get off twitter. It’s a dumpster fire anyway where anything you say can and will be used against you. It may not have gotten you yet, because yall have a common enemy, but it’s a matter of time. You are not ultra-mega progressive, they don’t like you.
I’m not on Twitter. I’m speaking only about the situation as a whole. Trump wields Twitter like a club. Obviously the story isn’t come from Twitter but that’s where it will be weaponized against Biden. I’m only making a pragmatic statement here about why he’s staying silent with 2 weeks left to elections.
Why? They’ve amassed literal billions by steering clear of Americans (Rinat Akhmetov’s net worth is 2,7 billion, for example) in any shape and form.
Zlochevsky, a former insignificant cabinet minister, worth more that two billion wanted the undue attention of alphabet agencies by scheming with the 'Muricans? No.
Even Manafort - who played tennis daily with the chief crook that was the then-President of Ukraine - and was as much an insider as was possible for an American, wasn’t involved in the real shady stuff. The Ukrainian mobsters were very careful to keep him involved only with legal and greyish-area stuff.
Hunter was a trophy. A dumb crackhead who happened to be the son of the then-VP. In their mind, there was no difference between Hunter’s make-believe Board role and Kadyrov paying Iron Mike to come to Chechnya and kiss his ass.
Biden was white-knighting in Ukraine - making public statements against organized crime (including people who were allegedly protecting Burisma) - and pissed off all the oligarchs.
Because the internet never forgets, here’s Infowars (yes, Infowars) from 2014 accusing Biden of being anti-Russian and anti-oligarch, even alleging that Hunter worked for Kolomovsky and had an indirect role in perpetrating a “massacre” of Russians and trying to get rid of all those “businessmen” whose minions would five years later sign sworn affidavits to Rudy.
This is probably the most exculpatory article about Biden’s role in Ukraine, written as a foaming-at-the-mouth hatchet job.
Well, I have never defended his twitter actions. As a matter of fact, I’d wished he stopped. Now, I just don’t care. He has every right to be on there like anyone else. ‘Not behaving presidential’ is the least of my worries among burning buildings, a made up race war, a politicized virus wielded hard left-wing power grab, a lying cheating media establishment and the precipice of civil conflict.
I don’t care what people say on twitter. I care very much that it has become a political tool used to silence opposition while pretending to be a neutral platform for expression.
All of those things are things I agree on, if somewhat dramatically put. You asked me why Biden wasn’t saying anything, however, and I gave you the answer that it is probably his best tactic to avoid putting gas in the fire before the election.
Here’s something that I think has been overlooked. Trump has routinely made demands to “lock her (or him) up”, tweets and re-tweets conspiracy theories, had warned Obamagate would be a huge scandal, and on and on. So, save for the hardest-core of Trump supporters, it’s really hard to put any weight or attention to yet another farfetched claim against a political rival. If this was any other president in history who was suddenly calling for locking up his opponent due to corruption, the nation would be in shock and want to learn more about the accusation. Unfortunately, you cry (or tweet) wolf near-daily, it has no impact any longer.
Trump’s current main campaign selling point is “Drain the Swamp”. You bet he’s going to milk this Biden issue and all sorts of similar stuff. I think it’s a mistake unlike “MAGA” in 2016 but we’ll see.
His ads aren’t as good as 2016 but damn is this one really well done:
The themes are obvious. (I don’t agree with half of what the guys after the ad are saying btw)
@dt79 In 2016 I already thought Trump was everything his detractors say he is today. In 2020 his opponents have shown that they are no different, just wrapped (supposedly) in finer veneer; supposedly, that’s “better” hah. They’re all wannabe emperors, with or without clothes.
Plus They’ve ruined two cities I used to enjoy -NYC and SF. That ad has more than a kernel of truth wrt those 2 cities by the way.
At least Trump is too busy twittering to interfere with me enjoying my life as much as possible.
add: the guys after the ad are the typical Tools that prevent me from watching “news” shows today
I don’t follow US politics enough to really know everything that’s going on. Just commenting on his ads and general strategy.
Hilary was mainly bashing Trump in 2016 without a clear message of her own when it came to what she was going to do for the country. It’ why I doubted she was going to win despite all the polls. It reached boiling point when she made that “basket of deplorables” comment.
It’s why I think this “Drain the Swamp” thing isn’t a good idea. Take into consideration that despite Hilary’s shitty campaign, she still won the popular vote.
Hillary’s message was that it was her “Manifest Destiny” to be crowned first female president of the US, the clear and obvious sequel to first black president of the US.
A rallying cry for all TDS posters patting each others backs in all the PWI threads, so I guess she did strike a chord…
Oh, the irony/hypocrisy of my posts given my “real life” to date LOLLL.
Precisely because she had her nose in the air and neglected to court the votes of the aforementioned “basket of deplorable”, apparently due to her lack of understanding of how the electoral college works.
sidenote: back when schools tried to educate kids instead of brainwashing them, I learned about how the electoral college works in elementary school
