Absolutely something we need. I don’t think he’s going to go anywhere near left fringe either. I am not a fan of Harris though. And I don’t like what I heard about his 401k plans, but I need to read up on it more before I spout off.

I got to “Don’t worry so much about China”. Fuck that, they are our biggest threat.
My friend group is pretty mixed with liberals, middle, and conservative. I can get along (I am by far the most outspoken here) with them all. That isn’t true for everybody though. Friends are deciding to not be friends due to politics. That is sad. I want to live in an America where we are all closer to center.
What do you currently know? I haven’t heard anything. I currently invest a lot through 401K.

I found myself agreeing with quite a bit on that list (I’d like to see more action on trade and antitrust). But that’s a pretty centrist platform.
And re: China - I interpret “worry less” as code for “stop stupidly antagonizing a rival power that has too much power for us to stupidly antagonize right now, and we’ll deal with them in a smarter Big Stick kind of way.”
That’s what I hope it means for certain. I’m not 100% sure though. They’re a threat and we need to take care of them, but not by faceplanting.

My first instinct is “I don’t like this”. My second one is, I need to figure out what all this really means.
I don’t understand it all myself. I read one article after you mentioned it. It said that perhaps the tax deferral would end, but that the government would provide a match up to a certain cap (I don’t believe it was a percent which would be better for high income, but a dollar amount, which would help lower income people more).
I am not sure what to think of it.

See? A middle solution would be, “we’re keeping 401k’s and other retirement plans and we will introduce other options for people.” Getting rid of one people already like and have invested in quite a bit and replacing it with, who knows what, by force, is a far-left proposition. You gotta know the transition wouldn’t be smooth and regular people will take the hits, not the cronies.
401K refers to the section of the tax code that defers the tax until it is taken out. We would still have retirement plans, but that one section (section 401K would be modified). I would support it if it is about the same for me (govt match matches about the amount I save in tax. However this is unlikely since I max my 401K), and it improves Americans’ dismal saving rates.
To me this is centrist. He isn’t scrapping retirement plans. He is modifying in order to help lower income people.
He is against Medicare for all. He is for restrictions on abortions (I believe last trimester), he is for moderate gun laws like requiring registration. Seems like a fairly center politician to me.

The proposal is to create (flat) tax credits instead of deductions. That way people who are in lower tax brackets - who get no benefits from the tax deferrals, since they pay no/little taxes - get some benefit that helps incentivize/grow retirement savings.

The list says he wants a buy back program… Aside from that, his own words scare the shit out of me. I was curious if he had any policies at all. He’s called the police, “The enemy”. He is for reallocating funds away from policing, unspecified as to where. And he said “We need to replace energy efficient clean cars, with energy efficient clean cars…”
The he said “…we need to work hard to ensure we can get our kids to market…” I myself am against human trafficking, but hell what do I know maybe it’s more fun than I realized.
If you were a business owner in one of these Democratic run towns that are burning every night, I’m pretty sure you wouldn’t classify it as a Trump “campaign of fear and divisiveness.”
