Cromwell, ‘Lord Protector for Life’ had been dead for 18 months. His son Richard had abdicated because he didn’t have the support of parliament or the army. The convention parliament restored the crown.[/quote]
Doesn’t matter which Cromwell, Oliver or Richard. The movement should have withstood the change in leadership.
