If there is a Japanese market anywhere near you, I’m sure they’ll have it. You’ve been warned.

It’s usually eaten with rice, karashi (asian hot mustard…the punch you in the nose kind that is similar to wasabi) and some kind of sauce. But both my wife and son eat it directly out of the package.

Ugh, just talking about it is making me feel nauseous. I’m out.
My sister and I have a disgusting food eating contest. If you can put horse radish, wasabi, asian mustard or several of the Indian chutneys on it, we’ll eat it.

It think that this stuff just made the list.

Have you tried it?

Is it smell, texture or taste?
No.

Never got past “smell” and “slime.”

Lest you think me a culinary wimp, I HAVE eaten raw horse and some insect cooked in squid ink here.
Same here: no bugs but other squid’s ink dishes, raw horse, camel, various alligator and crocodile appendages, ostrich, wild boar, fish with the face still on (shishamo, etc.) among other stuff. My two favorite Japanese foods are raw liver and a mixture of raw ground beef and raw egg called yukke, believe it or not, but you can hardly get either anywhere anymore after some people died eating raw beef. I would still eat it if I could. I ain’t skeered.

I really would appreciate it if you guys who are talking about trying natto would actually do so, if you are able; not just because I am a sadist, but I’d also actually be interested in hearing what you thought of it after Chushin and I have built it up like we have here.

For the record, although I used the phrase, “built it up,” I do not feel as if I have exaggerated one bit.

I will. It might be a couple of weeks, but I’ll be sure to let you guys know. They should have it down at the strip (chushin is probably familiar with the strip)

The thing is, if my sister eats some, I will then have to, and she absolutely will just so that I do.

My nose has been busted more times than I can count but it still works way too well.

Yep, I’d guess you can get it in the Strip (though that’s pretty much Chinese stuff there, and I’m not sure if Chinese people eat it.)

If its still around, there’s also a Japanese grocer (“Tokyo”) on the Shadyside / East Librty border.

I like the sound of your relationship with your sis, BTW.

And what’s with all the broken noses with you guys? :-)
Orion’s fault.

Nah. Wrestling. I had a bad habit of shooting take downs with my head outside. The result is invariably a cross-face that mushes the cartiladge right off of the bridge. After a couple of those it just pops right off.

And Yeah, Chushin, me and my sis have a lot of fun. We just had all of the kids (my new son too) out for a hike collecting wood ear mushrooms for a chinese soup she makes.

Yeah, shooting with your head on the outside isn’t fun, especially single-legs. Those kids must been pretty rough on you to continually break your nose…

It’s pretty common and went both ways. There were a couple of schools that rode a fine line between a cross face and just punching. Most people learn not to do that after once or twice though.

Cross faces can be vicious.

I can’t decide what is worse, a bad cross face or while you’re both standing, the guy has your arm locked from behind and trips you to the same side hard enough to smack your face to the mat. I’ve seen that move done continually to someone because the guy kept letting him up to do it again. Apparently there is no rule against it.

I used to do a throw from the refs position a lot. Let them get to their feet, then Wooo! Go for a ride!

After a couple of those a half nelson with a wing gets the pin.

I only wrestled for one year and I miss it more than I miss football (which I played all the way through college).

If so which district?
