The Non-Alcoholic Thread

Yeah I guess that makes sense. I’ve never been a big drinker and don’t enjoy beer so that probably explains why it confuses me some.

I’d rather just have a sugar Coke if I wasn’t drinking. That sounds delicious. Lol

I wasn’t going to respond since I enjoy my alcoholic beverages. Not a big drinker but I have a routine of one drink per night. Beer or scotch depending on my mood.

Recently I was duped by Coors though. I saw Coors Edge and just assumed it was a new low calorie beer judging by the labeling. I should have read it more intently. The first sip I was like “wtf is this?” N/A malt drink. regardless of alcohol content, it just didn’t taste good at all. I dumped them.

I am slowly shifting away from NA drinks, but if you have been used to drinking semi regularly, part od it is simply routine. You come home on Friday, you have a beer. Or you mow the lawn, you have a beer. So if you can replace that beer with a beer-like drink, its one small step healthier.

On a side note I had my first alcohol after 110 days of nothing. I had a tasting paddle at the local brewery, and yes some of them were higher ABV (6 or 7%) but after 3 tasters i had a buzz like it would take me 2 full schooners to achieve. I actually didnt want more, so strictly the goal of my break is achieved, which was fo change my relationship with alcohol.

I don’t have a dog in this fight, but yeah, its similar to the age old ritual of smoking a bowl or joint too.

You can’t pass a gummy. Or cheers with one. I mean, you can, but it just doesn’t convey that same sense of camaraderie. There have been a few people though that I never wanted to hit a joint after. They get too slobbery and lovey with it. Like “Nah, you keep that one, I’m gonna roll another anyways.”. :face_vomiting:.

I dont drink no matter what month it is. It got in the way of consistency working out.

But one thing that makes me feel like i am drinking when i go play pool or something is Topo Chico. Sometimes i will just get a soda water at the bar if they dont have my drink.

Also, in taking this picture, i dropped the damn thing and spilled it all over the couch…no good deed goes unpunished

This is what I’ve done. Just chipped away at the edges until it feels like it’s in a better place for me. Less frequently, less at a go. I like drinking, but I like sober, too, and it certainly leaves more energy in the tank.

More reviews:

This is a NA rum-esque spirit. Let’s get the obvious out of the way, it’s watery by itself. With that being said, I’ll get it again. It is not spicy but it’s like a warm sweet taste to it. It mixes amazingly with ginger beer (enjoying this mocktails with a cigar and it’s restoring my will to live). I’ll have to try other dark rum cocktails using it.

This includes the mezcal version. This is a no go. It tastes sorta "negroni"ish but then it tastes like cherry cough syrup. There’s was really no difference with the mezcal version

I’ll rank these for replication of cocktail and taste:

  1. The expresso martini. This tasted more like a vanilla mocha but it was really good
  2. Mockapolitan. This was pretty good and nice take on a NA cosmopolitan. Fairly cranberry with a botanical note. I enjoyed it
  3. Mockarita. I wouldn’t call this a true margarita but it was limey and refreshing. Would go well at the beach or at a Mexican restaurant.
  4. Sansgria. It was oddly bitter. I didn’t enjoy this one
  5. Mockscow mule. This was nasty. It had an orange juice flavor. I rather a ginger beer and lime than this shit

This is going in rotation. It was sort of like a less strongly flavored NA blue moon

Lots of stuffed reviewed this time. We did a Mardi Gras ball without alcohol and had fun so that’s a major win
