One thing that I really don’t get is the rationalization that these lies are all okay because they’re just minor lies for embellishment, presumably insinuating that it’s harmless since these were not major issues of state. I look at it from a different angle - if the guy can’t manage to tell the truth about minor / harmless things that are so easily fact-checkable, what’s he going to do when he does have to call the shots on national & international affairs?
Yes, (Trade Partner), I know that I said we’d pay you $1 trillion, but I just said that because it was a round number. You’ll take your $273 billion and like it.
Yes, (Allied Nation), I know that I said we’d send you 10,000 troops to keep the peace in your region, but I was just saying that for embellishment and effect. We’re not actually sending you any troops.
Yes, (City That Needs Money For Crucial Infrastructure Project), I know that I said we would build a big bridge, a great bridge, the best bridge in the history of bridges, but I was just saying that for effect to pump up the crowd. We don’t have the money for you to build a bridge.
Reprehensible stuff from Trump here. If he were less of a vengeance driven politician, he’d be a sensible candidate. He can broach no criticism from anyone without attacking in the lowest manner.
That isn’t really the conclusion you came to, is it?
You aren’t a native American so promoting American nativism (your interpretation of it anyway) is, ah, strange to say the least. It has nothing to do with race.

Of course I’m not a native and only people who are are allowed to hold those stances.
I laid out above why nativists positions are beneficial to non-nativists American positions.
Also how far does this line of thinking extend?
My father carved out his living as a consultant helping companies navigate the endless regulations put in place by the FDA and Health Canada (Canadian equivalent of FDA).
The existence of these policies indirectly put food in my mouth, clothes on my back. Does that mean I will forever have to support big government and endless regulation?
Bernie Sanders is against deductions for the rich yet his tax return shows he took plenty of deductions. Is he a hypocrite?
God I would love to be a Dem PAC operative this year. The swing state ads are pre-made and perfect as is. I’d just lean back in my chair and collect my paychecks.
He is making one singular point and that is that you are pushing a nativist attitude while not being a native. In other words, you are trying to argue as in insider while not being an insider. That doesn’t make sense.
You’re trying to extrapolate that to mean something entirely different, ie, that you can’t have x, y, or z stances because of your race. That isn’t at all what was meant.
