The Next President of the United States: IV

Sorry to hear about your family, particularly your daughter, Treco. Even the best of parents can have kids with issues. Just ask the Father of us all. I feel like this election has tried my faith in my country. I guess it’s times like these that we have to be what we profess to be, people of faith.

Thanks for your kind words.
We are promised peace in dealing with our trials, and that is worthwhile to lean on.

Before my present assigment, I spent about 18 months attached to DSS, providing protection to our “leaders” visting the areas of conflict. From numerous members of the Senate and Congress, to high ranking State Department and DoD officals, to a man and woman , they were lying, despicable pieces of goat shit. I have found more honor among arms dealers. Whatever GOD you believe in, you better send a prayer in regards to the USA, because we are rotting from within.

Hey man, I understand that (and sorry for missing your post earlier - it just kind of got lost in the shuffle to me). I also first express my sympathy for dealing with that in your own family; while I have not dealt with it personally, one of my wife’s best friends was in a rocky relationship with someone that fit that description (he has not been to prison yet, and I honestly don’t know how other than “he’s a smooth talker with a lot of money”)

So, to do you the service of answering your question from earlier - I’ve never liked Hillary either, much like the other guys already posted above; yes, my posts all along have had a strong anti-Trump lean (basically because I think he’s an even easier target than Hillary) but what I really am is anti-misinformation. Most of what I’ve been doing here is challenging raj’s ridiculous claims; as a guy who makes a living studying, analyzing and interpreting data, I always want to make sure that people are drawing conclusions grounded in at least a reasonably accurate representation of reality. That makes me look “anti-Trump” because most of the stuff here that’s fit that description (a photoshopped ballot with two Dem boxes on it to make the election appear rigged; a link to a purported discovery of poll-rigging that was really just an inability on the part of that blog writer to understand what “oversampling” means) has been pro-Trump propaganda.

The closest I’ve come to a tepid endorsement of Hillary in this thread or any of the others is basically “I think there’s a lower probability of HRC leading us entirely off the cliff than Trump” a few times. And that’s a value judgement on my part. I do want to come back to one comment of yours here:

Again, we’re doing our best to make judgements based on whatever information we can cobble together from various sources, and reasonable people can reach different conclusions, but I just want to point out that this statement is equally applicable to Trump. Even moreso, in my opinion. The guy has no consistent position on anything. He makes up whatever he wants to say at any given time. He lies publicly, on the record, about things that are easily fact-checked’ whenever he’s challenged on this, he never stands behind his original words, he just says that he never said it (even if it’s something that’s on his Twitter page for all to see).

So while I respect your right to analyze the information out there and conclude that HRC is a pathological liar that cannot be trusted (I don’t disagree, by the way) - I would merely point out that I think Trump is every bit her equal in that department, except stupider.

I understand the allure of an “outsider” who will “turn Washington upside-down” and the truth is if it were almost anyone but Trump (just to name one random example, Mark Cuban?) I might well have considered it.

Earlier, I told zeb (er, was it Mick28? lol) that I was planning to vote Johnson. Not because I am especially thrilled with him as a candidate, but that I am tired of the two-party system and believe that our country would benefit from having a legitimate third party. This would (hopefully?) start to eradicate the two-sides-of-the-aisle attitude that has R’s and D’s almost entirely unwilling to work with one another because they know their respective media trolls are just waiting to blast them if they do (i.e. the way a guy like Hannity just can’t wait to crush any R that worked with Obama on anything). I think we need more than two parties represented on the national stage (this Presidential election being the final nail for me; if these are the two candidates we’ve been served up by the primary process, it’s time for a new process) and the only way that happens is if enough people pull the lever for Gary Johnson (or Evan McMullin, in Utah) to express that and put some momentum behind a third party. I understand that many people think this is futile, that it’s throwing a vote away, etc. Well, to put a spin on it, voting on the individual person level is always futile; unless your state is decided by a single vote; and the only way I think we’ll ever come back to the table with more than just a blue and a red candidate would be if enough folks decide it’s time to throw their support to a third candidate. Johnson has really faded in national polls lately, probably because a lot of traditional D’s and R’s decided “Oh shit, the race is maybe going to be close, I gotta come home to the party” and that’s a shame.

I just thought of this after reading a random article about moving to canada. If people are so upset about Trump and his anti immigration/mexico policies, why is it always Canada people threaten to move to and not Mexico?

Best guess, they’re usually progressives that love things like socialized healthcare, which Canada has.

Good to know mate!. No disagreementat all on your premise, I really despise HRC. I just don’t like your conclusion haha, but I can see very much why you chose your position.

Try Whiskey. That’s what I’m doing today. (Fair warning in advance to all those who consider me well spoken and/or reasonable).

Family Guy had it right.

…but it tastes so good!

Haha! Good plan. I’ll remain calm, sober, and law abiding over here… but in my head I’ll be throwing punches and maybe setting fire to things. It would probably feel good to hit something with a sledgehammer today.

Is that different from other powerful leaders around the world?

I have too many bottles to try that…I’d be dead. But I’ll put a big dent in it!

My mom is a first generation American. My Irish grandmother was about 4’11’ but she could really put down the Guinness. I’m pretty sure she’d be raising a glass to me today.

About violence, I used to have a little daydream about rushing the stage and kicking Obama when he was waxing arrogant. I’m pretty sure I could take him, as long as Michelle wasn’t around. She’s got some arms on her, and a long reach. Now, I can’t even daydream about popping Hillary. She’s old and slow, and she’d probably just sit on me, and suffocate me with those pantsuit covered thighs. Trump seems pretty scrappy, so I doubt I’d be able to get a punch in on him. I’m sure I’m faster, but I’m pretty sure he has the “pure spite” advantage. You can never underestimate the power of MEAN in a fight.

Kick her in the hip! You know old people have bad hips.

Well, that’s true. Unfortunately, I can’t even enjoy the visual. Apparently, Hillary has even ruined my daydreams. A construction worker would put that part about ruining dreams differently, but I won’t go there. wink.

BTW, if any of you were considering giving up swearing, you might want to wait a couple of days on that.

I can’t believe I thought about this and didn’t consider deflecting Trump’s signature move, the p@$%y grab. I obviously need to spend more time in the Combat Forum.

Since he plays dirty, I’d probably do something like this.

If we’re talking dreams, this. Orders of magnitude better than getting suffocated by Hillary’s polyester pantsuit.
