2020 is in the books:
(150.18%)
1-Year Change
How is 2021 ever going to live up to that? It probably won’t but I’ll try not to be disappointed with 20%. Statistically, It’ll take luck just to get ten percent but that would be a disappointment.
Who here is getting rich on GME, AMC, or BBBY?
Placed a limit order of $19 for GME a couple of weeks back after reading the WallStreetBets subreddit. It didn’t fill and I forgot about it. Been pretty devastated the last couple of days.
And to think its up another 140% since that pic.
Placed a small portion of my portfolio in NOK, AMC and BB.
… (am I doing it right).
My largest position in my Etrade account is SLV (bought in July), and i bought up a bunch of SKT on monday after realizing it hadnt really moved since i sold it in December (i think there is a bunch of pent up savings and shopping demand). Im hoping i run into a couple WSB short squeezes on those two haha. Also bought some AG this morning at the gym on total whim… I figure I should keep <5% of Etrade account in YOLO positions… just in case i hit the lottery on them haha.
My Roth and 401k are boring, so we dont talk about those haha.
Since SeekingAlpha went paid subscription only this year, where are people looking for market ideas and news? MotleyFool is, well… yeah. Zacks? Investorplace? Other good sites?
Wondering what the chatter might be on $GME. Didn’t play myself, though I was tempted to join Chamath when he bought those 115 calls the other day …
Market feels very odd to me. A lot of the stocks I follow have broken out of bases and failed. Very much looking forward to Friday’s action. I want to see how the week and the month end.
I was already feeling vertigo and now the wind is blowing. I’ve got no cash and nothing I really want to sell. I guess I’m just going to trust the mega trend which is a bull market.
A wave of Reddit traders/instagram kidz trolling institutional short sellers/hedge funds. Some have being placing bananas options calls with 15-50X leverage…
I would say 40% chance we might see a big correction, small market crash even, next week when Wall St fully digests what is going on
Nice. take the win and jump ship right now.
Well, I got fucking smoked the 2nd half of the week haha. Damn. At the start of trading on wed I was up close to 5% on the day! That unraveled quickly and Ive been down atleast 0.5% on the day since.
Good thing I have a shitton of dry powder. The market needs to take a breather, backup, reset… And then to tha moooooon!!!
Got in GME when it was at 33…then 115 shares I think at 66 avg, sold half to take my profits. Now holding 86 at 144 avg.
It’s been a crazy couple of weeks and hoping it can get better.
Same here. Started the week at peak equity highs. Finished up for the month, but this was not an enjoyable week for me.
I read your statement as “I don’t play myself” at first.
And I’m thinking Yeah…okay.

Stay safe - that volatility is deadlier than a ninja wearing a cloaking device.
No doubt. I’ve been doing more homework over the past few weeks than I have in a long time. Back to basics: volatility compression patterns, volume, good stocks en route to becoming great ones …
Seasonality might get interesting in the second half of the month. I would love to find myself selling into strength toward the end of the week.
It’s been a brutal stretch … hope everyone’s ok … Bouncing back after a couple of un-fun weeks.
I decided to invest in ARKK right at what currently is the ATH.
I’m ok with kissing that money goodbye. I am not ok with all my ETFs getting battered when, in hindsight, they suffer the EXACT same issue ARKK has right now given what happened to the stock market in the past year.
Costco and Vistra were the ones that blew up in my face. I decided to buy a whole bunch of COST at nearly its peak and it has since crashed. Ive owned VIST for a while and was up a ton… until the Texas winter storm crashed the price down 30% in a few days. Now im back up to even on it.
My portfolio is recovering, but i blew my cash load way too early trying to cost average down on some stuff. Currently have $1.36 in cash haha. gonna teach myself a lesson and not transfer in more money, and will instead wait for my monthly contribution to hit the account. Idiot.
I gotta say though, its pretty nice to be learning some lessons in this market where the bottom is quick and shallow (so far), and the bounceback is quick too. My rookie mistakes have so far been easily and quickly forgiven, but not forgotten.
