I am not convinced of wide spread antisemitism on the left. I have witnessed criticism of Israel’s policies by the left. I have also witnessed the right label legitimize criticism of Israel’s politics as antisemitism. My feeling of the situation is that it is getting hard to have honest criticism of Israel’s government without being labeled as antisemitic.
I’ll admit this is more my observation, and I may not be aware of existing events of antisemitism. I am willing to look at evidence with an open mind to this matter.
The right ruined “antisemitism” like the left ruined “racist.”
But both sides will continue to act like it’s only a big deal when the other guy does it
I hadn’t thought about it in those terms…but you are probably right.
Here is an article for your clarification < 5min read.
I have taught adult Sunday school virtually your entire life, if your birth year is 87.
@Mufasa
New American Standard Bible
“Do not judge according to appearance, but judge with righteous judgment.”
Well that was a waste of 5 minutes. Those versus have nothing to do with Numbers 5. Since I read through your versus (and I have said before Jesus had some good teachings, I just don’t believe he is god), you should read Numbers 5:11-31. After you do that, tell me honestly if the Christian god does or does not endorse abortion.
I don’t know any context in which those versus cannot be taken as god instructing priests to perform abortions.
No need for quotes, @treco…
I’ve been clear is stating that justifying Trump’s actions under the guise and cloak of Religion…and worse yet, making him some type of “Prophesied” religious figure…goes beyond the Surreal to me, to an area I can’t even comprehend…
I am thinking he was trying to tag me? Not sure though.
Independents on T-Nation are significantly more intelligent than those elsewhere?
How much of Trump do you truly approve of and how much of it is just you thinking the other side is worse? Not trying to attack just curious. In his defense you use a lot of whataboutism it seems. Which is ok I’ve done it many times. But it would seem to me this is less evidence of you being a huge supporter of his and more of a “he’s the better of the two choices.”
I can fully understand thinking Trump is the lesser of two evils. What I have a harder time of understanding is why one can’t say Trump is awful and I want someone different and I don’t want it to be from the current Dem pop.
I think you can actually detest Trump while being in agreement with many policy positions. We’ve had people on here (Sloth, maybe Aragorn to an extent) who have essentially said as such.
I mean does any real rational adult think Trump is anywhere near a good person? Do they think he makes careful rational decisions which is needed in his job? Do they view him as calm? Someone whose behavior should be emulated? Capable of working well with people who are different than him? Able to put things that directly benefit him aside for the good of others? Able to follow and understand laws?
It’s not like Trumps the only possible person who could be in favor of tax cuts or strong borders or less intervention in foreign policy. I would think if you supported those policies you would support someone with the temperament to achieve as much as possible in regards to them. Hell I would say most of the people who don’t approve of Trump do it because of who he is and what he represents more so than policy and it’s not close.
Guys, I must’ve missed how the line got blurred from discussing Trump and the impeachment hearings to the beginnings of a full-blown abortion debate, but there’s literally an active thread in PWI where you can transfer that discussion rather than further sidetrack this one: The Abortion Thread II - #279 by H_factor
What does righteous judgment say about this?
I know this is old but just catching up. It’s basically insane in a sense what people like that can do. Even though Jordan and people like Tebow never made it to the big leagues making it to AA or AAA baseball is still an amazing accomplishment. It’s incredibly difficult for any person to make it to that level in the first place. It’s why I’m not a huge fan of things like Tebow’s had a failed baseball career. It’s like the standard is different simply because he was at the highest level in a different sport. I’m not a Tebow fan necessarily but we are talking about a very small percentage of alive males who can play AAA or AA baseball.
It is easier to “cross over” for certain people in certain sports. Some of this has to do with the technical ability of skills vs what you can do with innate athleticism.
We PWI posters have never been able to stick to one subject (checkout all Mufasa threads, not because it’s his fault just where they go). Damned if you ain’t a gentleman for hoping. We will listen, agree, be better, and then completely forget tomorrow.
Really, Mufasa had since last year January a Trump thread. there is obvious crossover to the Iran and Impeachment threads, and why not going back a bit consider the Gun Policy in the USA thingy. Further along we have the homelessness thread, so there is a gooey borderline.
That is definitely correct. In any case, it describes me well…I certainly want someone different and I don’t want it to be from the crop of democrats.
You’re also correct here. I disagree with a lot of his policy choices (trade war & Saudi Arabia being the biggest), but agree with some as well. However, that’s what I meant when I said character is more important than policy.
Totally agree – I do think that the bar seems set a bit higher for elite people crossing over…whether that’s because of them or because we love our big 4 sports (MLB, NFL, NBA, NHL) I dunno.
Either way, that shit’s hard!

Damn.
When are the DEMS going to learn that Trump is THE “Teflon Don”???
They need to stop wasting their time with Trump and let the Southern District of New York do it’s thing. The time, money and effort just isn’t worth it. (IMO).
But if they did that they would be accused of not doing their job of oversight. Huge decision coming down this week from the Supreme Court on trumps financial records. If trump loses, he’s done. If he wins our system of checks and balances that we get from oversight will be wrecked forever. Essentially the president will be ruled above the law while in office.
Not disagreeing with you, @magnumd.
Trump has clearly directed his paranoia and vitriol at that system of checks, balances and oversight; and has lumped it all into that nebulous “Deep State” whose primary function is to waste their time preventing him from a second term. The man’s elevation of his importance to the survival of the Republic simply shows no boundaries.
My point is that not only is “Slick Donny” able to slither his way out of every inquiry into his misdeeds; he is skillfully able to turn public sentiment against those doing the inquiry. And Trump is damn good at making his accusers look like a bunch of jealous, partisan hacks.
Again; let the Southern District of New York slowly and meticulously do it’s job, because as it’s stands the DEMS appear to be piss-poor at oversight.
